Alyson Footer does not write as much as she once did, which is a shame since she was the most accurate and reliable source out there (which is why she got my vote) .

Richard Justice is the main Chronicle sportswriter. Sometimes insightful. Sometimes too flippant or rushed. But you got to read him.

Everyone has their likes and dislikes I guess. I for one do not accept anything JJO writes on face value. He misinterprets so much and gets his basic facts wrong so often I don’t think he deserves to have a job sportswriting (plus his writing style reminds me of a high school writer). But two people voted JJO as their main man in the poll. Different strokes for different folks.

I like Chip Bailey too and he is not even on the list.

I like MacTaggart too and he has only one vote so far.

Levine is tied with Justice in the votes (at this time) – He has written some interesting columns, but I consider him a secondary source after getting my main reports elsewhere.

I don’t consider Levine a beat writer really, but I usually like his analyses the best. So, I voted for Justice. Of the remaining writers listed, Justice is the smartest and, as we see on this blog, his stuff gets quoted more often and provokes more comments. I don’t really care much for McTaggert. Footer now works for the Company, and can’t be considered a beat reporter. And, JJO is just not very good. He is far too emotional, and often says stupid stuff. Although I frequently disagree with Justice and criticize what he writes, I vote for him on the process of elimination.

Richard Justice can be a bit much for me at times.
