Which ones are the callups?

I think the Cards can mathematically clinch the playoff bid at MMP
I’d be happy to keep them waiting.
by AstroAndy on Sep 21, 2009 7:04 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
in theory, all of the Cards’ games have meaning as it pertains to home field advantage. I’m pretty sure that the lack of clinching is something that will influence the Astros’ decision; not so sure, on the home field advantage. Wade has previously said something about showing respect to the teams in playoff contention by putting out good lineups fo meaningful games.

some points from interview…
….wanted to make Coop decision now, because it would be more awkward after the trip to New York.
…Pence endorses Clark. (Pence played for Clark in AA.) Wade says that Bourn has taken to Clark and likes him and gives him credit.
…as for call ups, Wade says he wants to show proper respect to Tejada and Blum who have been leaders on the team, and Manzella and Chris Johnson happen to play the same position as they do.
…Wade jokes that he appreciated the “campaign literature” from JD, but he can only check off a few boxes on his list of characteristics for a new manager.
…take whatever time necessary to pick new manager, could be Oct./November or later.
…has to be the right guy to handle both veterans and young players.

more from Wade....
what he likes about minor league teams: the far horizon is most appealng; likes the Lancaster outfielders, as well as Koby and he likes the Lexington pitchers. Even though it may make Lancaster fans unhappy, the Astros may jump the Lexington pitchers to AA next year.

would be nice to beat the Cards...
and end the losing streak.
But I’m in a good mood, at least for today, no matter what.

It's shown every half inning on MLB.TV
took the place of the “Let Me Be Myself” Geico commercials

(I thought it was only on network television). In any event, if it’s the one I think it is, I agree.

those of us on MLBtv
unfortunately get to listen to it every commercial break.
and for some reason when we go to commercial break the volume is suddenly turned up.

I remember seeing the FCC head under Bush on a tv show
he said the number one complaint was the volume of commercials.

Thank God football season is here so I don’t have to focus solely on this lousy team. And no, I don’t root for the Texans. Haha.

Yep...
Still a good day.
I’m not going to be quite as happy in the long run if we don’t hire Manny Acta, though.
by BTastros on Sep 21, 2009 9:33 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
one of my buddies suggested this to me today
Acta as manager, Baggy as hitting coach, J.D. as pitching coach.

What I liked about this loss
No intentional walks
No sacrifice bunts
No switching pitchers mid-inning
No pulling the starting pitcher too early and crushing the BP
No use of Byrdak or Fulchino
Actually using LaTroy Hawkins in a non-setup situation.
Coop probably would have messed up on at least three of those.
