People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring." --Rogers Hornsby

What a coincidence...

I think it’s what a lot of us have been doing since mid August…

What is the world baseball cup website?

The German site for the stuff that goes on there was fun to explore. I posted a pic of some chump named Castro from there earlier.

The baseball World Cup site

Is what I meant…link. OK, now I can go back to staring out the window and wondering why Manzella, Johnson, and Towles aren’t playing.

apparently Manzella is scheduled to start in Cincinnati today.

That's good to hear

I was about to see if we could change the Crawfish Boxes motto to: “Where the Hell-a is Tommy Manzella?”

I actually am having a hard time understanding why we haven’t played the young guys more, particularly the last two games. Right now we’re on a road trip, so there can’t be any complaints from Drayton about people coming to MMP to see their favorite players play. Heck, have you seen the emptiness of the stands at Great American Ballpark? No one is coming to see anyone on these teams.

We’re playing a team that is doing worse than us in the standings, so it’s not about maintaining a level of quality play for the integrity of playoff runs.

My cynical brain thinks it’s due to Cecil Cooper trying to save his job by finishing with a winning record.

i discussed that on the radio last week

and that was my impression entirely: that the astros need to play manzella and johnson as much as possible, but that is the very thing that may cost coop a game or two that could have been the difference between finishing at .500 or just below. thanks to our recent losing streak, it’s doubtful .500 is attainable, so maybe they have the “awwww screw it” attitude, and the young guys will play more?

Before the road trip started...

Cooper was quoted at Astros.com as saying that Manzella would get one start on this road trip. So this must be it. So you better make your one start count, Tommy.
