Tejada Claimed
From Danny Knobler (CBS Sportsline)'s blog:
Also claimed, according to sources, was Astros shortstop Miguel Tejada. The claiming team isn't known, but also isn't important, because the Astros have already pulled Tejada back and now can't trade him. Tejada is making $13 million this year, on the final year of his contract.
The Rays aren't believed to be the team that blocked Tejada, but sources said that Tampa Bay has been active in claiming any low-salary players, effectively blocking them from being traded to the Yankees or Red Sox.

wow
already pulled back…so can i ask what the point of putting him on waivers was?
or did maybe a team like TB claim him to block from BOS and then tell us we dont want to trade, we just did it to block BOS…

As I understand
it is almost a tradition for teams to put virtually the entire team on waivers, thinking the entire team will clear waivers so that a possible trade can be made before September 1.
It does not mean the team plans to trade one or more tplayer or that any trades are foreseen or in the works,
I would not read anything into this news tidbit.
I may be wrong; but that’s my understanding.

yep
This is my understanding too.
It might be my understanding from a post made by you or someone else a few weeks ago, though. So I guess I could be wrong too.
and in any event...
If teams don’t put virtually everyone out there every time, they should. Any other strategy gives out information about the team’s intentions. If they put everyone out there, then they gain much more information than they give up.
important piece of information
is that Tejada will not be traded.
