I watched some of the Cubs game on WGN. The WGN broadcasters were pretty excited about missing Wandy in this next series.

Nice to see Maysonet get a start....haven't seen him in awhile.

Maysonet puts the tag on Upton when he tries to steal….

Wandy gets out of the 1st in fine fashion.

Pence with a hit....and Berkman held at 3d with 1 out.

As it turns out, based on Upton’s throw, Bekman could have scored.

yeah...true...but Maysonet has come through previously for the Astros.

I think its a terrible signal to send to young players. Particularly when the games aren’t important anymore.

The games aren’t even of importance to me. I used to make time to watch the game. I didn’t watch last nights game at all, I just turned it on today because I had the time. Im actually more excited about football season. Go Saints. haha

Coop is managing the crap out of this

game which is probably going to be lost. Cut your losses and let 1 guy pitch. Save the pen for the Chicago series.

Wandy threw a lot of pitches in his last game. That is one of the bad things about moving his start up to today. He just seemed to collapse around 100 pitches today.

I think they are in an awkward situation where they don't know if they will bring Webb back.

The D-Backs have a reasonable option on Webb next year ($8 million, I think), but they don’t know how Webb will respond to his surgery. If the D-Backs have both Haren and Webb healthy, they become a lot more formidable.

they signed him to a contract through 2012 a year ago.

And the fact is that he has been one of the best pitchers in the league over the past few years. It would be silly to trade him, if you ask me.

and Haren is signed to a reasonable contract too.

Hard for a GM to give up pitchers with good contracts.

by clack on Aug 30, 2009 5:28 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

besides,

Arizona has some good young players. With the right moves they should be in contention relatively quickly. No reason to start selling off good players.

D'backs' website says dislocated patella

Have to wait for MRI results for soft tissue damage. It’s possible to have a dislocation without ligament damage, but I’d be surprised. I’m guessing at least medial collateral, maybe anterior cruciate ligament damage, based on the way he fell. Either of those would require rehabbing through at least the All-Star break next year. Qualls wasn’t my favorite when he was here, but I wouldn’t wish those injuries on anybody.
