bourn

doubles to the gap…

anyway heres the lineup vs wainrhight

Bourn, Pence, Berkman, Lee, Tejada, Blum, Matsui, Q, Wandy

Apparently Coop thinks Tejada is good enough to bat b4 Blum but pence has never been?

Interesting that Pence is batting No. 2....

there was a discussion on the Astrosdaily forum just the other day regarding Pence’s hitting problems with RISP and bases loaded. The consensus seemed to be that it might be a good idea to move Pence up to the No. 2 slot.

berkman

flies out to 3rd…Lee now up with Bourn on 2nd…2 outs

I've always hated Wainwright....

I think it goes back to the 06 season and the last game vs. the Braves, with the Astros and Cardinals fighting for the division title. Wainwright engaged in non-stop text messaging with his ex-Braves teammates trying to give them advice on beating Astros’ players and generally acting like a asshole.

Felt the same way

But then rooted for him against the Mets in the playoffs anyway. :O

Carlos Strikes out

and leadoff double goes to waste…hey at least it wasnt leadoff double and get outta inning 8 pitches later…he has got to be above 20 pitches by now

Cardinals infielders (except third) were on the outfield grass

by 7 or 8 feet for Carlso Lee

They must not fear Lee’s speed to first.

Pujols drives in a run with a grounder past 3d base....

I hated it on the pre game show when they kept talking about Wandy owning Pujols. I figured that would jinx him, for sure.

Fourth Inning coming up

Wainwright looking unstoppable, but it’s the fourth inning – time to make at least a dent in that armour

Pence , Berkman and Lee start it off

So much for that

Pence , Berkman , Lee carry their bats back to the dugout. (2 strikeouts and a popup in foul territory to first base).

Wainwright retired 15 straight through 5 innings

a “perfect” game since Bourn led off the first with a double

Not anymore

Zambrano taken out in the fifth after giving up 8 runs

when after his recent hot streak…hes only hitting .230

Michaels struck out

He cannot pinch hit

When he starts a game he does reasonably well at the plate, but he cannot pinch hit

ASTROS LOSE 1-0

I feel worse for Wandy than I do for the Astros as a team even though this was a critical game to their fading hopes.
