shame
Sampson was one of the best relievers on the team last year and pre all star break
Corcoran
I notice that Corcoran, the reliever picked off waivers from Seattle, has yet to be scored upon at Round Rock. The obstacle to bringing him up is that he isn’t on the 40 man roster, and I think the 40 man roster is full.
This will not help team morale
Maybe, just maybe, they hope Sampson will return less less than 2 weeks and that’s why he is not going on DL.
Otherwise bad move.
Cooper wil get the blame I’m sure, and he probably deserves it; but I think it was Ed Wade’s call.

From Chronicle Reports
“I definitely didn’t see it coming,” Sampson said. ". . . . .
“I’ve given up some hard-hit balls, but I haven’t lost confidence in myself. They said they’re sending me down to work through it. I’m leading the team in appearances and innings pitched, and it seems to me I might need more rest than more work. Rather than another stint on the DL, they’re sending me to Round Rock.”
. . . .
“I’m definitely not 100 percent, and they knew that when I came off the DL the first time,” he said. "They knew I was still sore and still had a knot in my shoulder and neck, but they said they can use me. I was coming back and thought I could pitch through it. As of late, I was feeling OK.
. . . . .
Manager Cecil Cooper said that Sampson told him he feels fine.
“I asked even the medical staff after the game [on Thursday],” Cooper said. “He said he was fine and came in for his normal ice, but he just didn’t feel like he has anything on the ball. When he makes a mistake, they get it, and then they hit one through the hole. Things aren’t happening good for him, and we need to get Chris to be the guy he’s been for us all summer.”

bad luck?
I didn’t watch Sampsons outing but I saw the highlights.
Looked like a lot of groundballs in the hole, a bloop single and a fly ball over Carlos Lee’s head (looked like a bad route to me)

don't forget....
that in Sampson’s first day back from the DL, he was used for two innings by Cooper. The second inning turned into a disaster. After the game, Sampson seemed bitter about it, saying it was a bad idea to pitch two innings. Later he said that Cooper knew he was still injured when he came off the DL. During that game thread, in Sampson’s first inning of work, I pointed out that Sampson still appeared injured, as he was rubbing his arm and shifting his shoulders/neck between pitches. If I can see that on televison, surely the pitching coach and manager can.
at least maybe he won't be used as much in RR

and I also
wonder what Larry Dierker would have to say about the bullpen being destroyed by Coop?
