The Giants' starter last night, Ryan Sadowski, needed to be introduced. Tim Lincecum needs no introduction. Last season's Cy Young winner has pitched as well, if not better in 2009. He is 1-0 against the Astros in his career, compiling a 2.13 ERA in four starts. Russ Ortiz did good work against both Edwin Jackson and Zack Grienke in his last two starts so he definitely doesn't get intimidated by the opposing starter.

MLB and Fox are such good marketers.

They black out the Astros’ game on the Fourth of July. Brilliant marketing.

Pads/Dodgers – I suppose Manny mania might have something to do with it. The boss is dragging me somewhere anyway.

I am pleased and very proud of Ortiz for his year

I’m listening to the Giants radio broadcast (One Astros radio guy irritates me).
They say he added a two seam fast ball that curves in on left handed batter and another pitch

Giants announcers impressed with Oritz (and with Bourn) (and Pence for that matter)

well these last 2 games

should hopefully destroy the illusion that the Astros could really have a competitive pitching staff. Let’s be buyers at the trade deadline….and find a young shortstop and some future pitching.

Ortiz was very good today.

I probably have more confidence in him than a lot of our other pitchers.

despite the score

Russ Ortiz was very good until the sixth.

Astros defense stumbled too much today (and offense is strictly Lance Berkman)

pitching till the 6th

does not get it done….we have too many 5-6 inning pitchers….what you get we you go after injury prone 35 yr olds….

"now you chunkin' in there.."

by jano4 on Jul 4, 2009 5:22 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

that's the offense's fault really.

Ortiz could have pitched longer. I actually like our starting rotation. Our offense is pathetic. If anything the Astros ought to be looking for a bat.

by clack on Jul 4, 2009 5:51 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

let's see

If the Astros move up Seaton and Jordan from Lexington to Corpus soon….would like to see those 2 get a shot late next season…

Haven't been watching the game

but, seriously, the Astros have given up 21 runs in two games to the worst offense in baseball. Amazing.

Maybe we should skip the independence day history and go straight to the “Washington in Valley Forge” and “Thomas Paine writes ‘The American Crisis’”

Your friendly neighborhood Dream Shake mod.

SF was lucky today. At least that’s what the radio guys said. They were talking about the Giants moving on to LasVegas and making big money that way. Maybe the Astros’ offense will wake up against a LHP tomorrow. The Astros hit LHP better than righties.
