LaTroy Hawkins to undergo MRI

Not sure if anyone has reported this, but someone connected to the 'Stros told me that LaTroy's having an MRI tomorrow.  I think he said that it was his back, but I can't exactly remember, and I don't want to bother asking him again.  Either way, he's having an MRI on something.  Best of luck to him and to the rest of the pen.  And this source is solid, believe me.

Go Stros!

[ DQ Insert ] Here's a link to the Chronicle's story about it.  This is just what we need—to keep player reliever roulette—in terms of health.

Personal Opinion

I wouldn’t mind us trading LaTroy and getting a prospect or two. He has had a decent season, but I like Sampson as a set up man. Hawkins throws balls right down the middle with little movement. When we’re up by one in the late innings, he scares me. I know we’re still in the thick of things and it’s unlikely we sell but I don’t think it would hurt us much with Valverde and Sampson healthy.

not exactly the best time for trade value...

when he has a MRI on his back, and we also learn that he has been playing with excruciating back pain.
Teams will discount his value.
