nice piece of hitting by Tejada.

with 2 strikes he just serves the ball into RF.

Dave Clark....what are you doing?

Berkman with a nice double, with no out, and Tejada is thrown out trying to go 1st to home. Tejada was hardly at 3d base as the first part of the throw was in progress.

Carlos Lee drives in Berkman with a single...

could have been 2 runs scoring if Clark didn’t screw up.

3-0 Astros.

Pence doesn't look good at the plate today.

trying to pull all the off-speed pitches and ends up rolling the ball to shortstop…happened in his first two at bats.

Wandy starts the 3d with two lead off walks.

Kouzmanoff is a dangerous young hitter—10 HRs this year—but he is slow and hits a lot of groundballs, which makes hims a good DP candidate.

In their defense

I am very willing to fork over $115 or so to be able to watch all the Astros games (and others I may choose) unless the Braves are involved, in which case I am blacked out.

mlb's response to the "blackout problem"....

is going to be an additional fee to see in-network area games…

Yankees and Red Sox, I think, have already started this, and more teams will follow suit.

Highest OPS in American League

Ben Zobrist (one of two players traded for Aubrey Huff I believe)

Astros fan for life

Ben Zobrist and Mitch Talbot

Zobrist was just the throw-in with Talbot… nobody thought he would be doing what he’s doing today…

However, when you make buy at the deadline year after year, one of those “throw-ins” is bound to break out and be a solid player.

Ah, what might have been.

Arias gets a K and GIDP to get out of jam.

It would be interesting to know what Arias’ DP % is….whenever he is in a jam, he seems to be able to will a GIDP.

I’ve said previously that Arias seems like he could become a Chad Qualls type relief pitcher. And Qualls had that same ability to get big DPs as if on demand.

Yes, amusing...

Hey Joe,

Thanks for the shout out as I’m still following along (despite some recent bullpen collapses taking a couple years off my life) but seems the team is starting to string some wins together in this tight NL Central. Of course, this game was on when I was sleeping but did see the highlights on ESPN.com with the bees so when I came here to the game thread I knew it would be mentioned and some jokes as well.

Anyway, 3 wins from the Padres and now on to SF. Looking forward to that Oswalt/Lincecum match-up!
