Washington Nationals fire manager Manny Acta
Dear. Mr. McLane:
My name is Evan, and I have a suggestion on how to make your baseball team a little better...
Also, Here is a blog post by JJO from last December that discusses Acta and his past involvement in the Astros' system. One interesting tidbit that Acta said to JJO was this:
Watch, Acta said, [Jason] Castro could be ready for the majors by the end of the [2009] season.
That was said while people were still skeptical of Castro being chosen with the 10th overall selection in the 2008 Draft.

I mean this completely seriously:
If Drayton were to fire Coop and hire Acta over the all-star break, I would forgive every dumb thing he has ever done to the Astros.

It’s not often it seems that a manager of a .500 club at the ASB is unanimously disliked and hoped to be replaced by an available manager everyone seemingly agrees with.

I'm all for firing Coop and hiring Acta
but what I got to thinking about was 1) You have a team at .500 coming out of the break so Acta would be starting fresh. 2) how does it affect the players to start playing for a new manager mid season. 3) Washington was Acta’s first managing job in the majors. He managed young guys that hadn’t been up long and he used to manage in the minors. So he hasn’t coached veteran guys like the Astros are made up of.
Potentially sign Acta as a bench coach?

Rogers doesn’t offer any concrete evidence that this has legs, but it was relevant to this thread so I thought I’d share it.
