Monday Morning Astros, etc. Round Up

This might be the last link dump for the week as I'm about to go on a road trip to New York with some friends, my apologies.  If I can find a computer, though, I'll make it happen.  For now, drink this one in:

This quote in Solomon's blog...

struck me as funny:

Cecil Cooper says getting healthy – Kaz Matsui (hamstring) is about ready to return – is a relief.

“I feel like a guy with some ammo now,” Cooper said.

I'm sure what Felipe means

is that he has a “little” strain and not that he has strained his “little groin”

A good friend of mine used to say, "This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Credibility issue

A line from Hardball Times ranking shook my confidence in their rankings:

“You may not have noticed, but the Nationals boast one of the best lineups in baseball to date.”

Well...

They are sixth in the NL in runs scored.

But does that make them one of the best in baseball?

Or just good?

Does lineup just mean offense?

The Nationals have some good hitters. The Nationals’ defense is possibly the worst in the majors…maybe historically bad.
