With this game representing a chance to climb out of the NL Central's basement, there's no one I'd rather have on the mound than the Wizard himself.

low ball, too
in the middle of the plate, but (if I recall correctly) Hunter wasn’t hitting those very well last season. He’s really kicking ass this year.

McCutcheon drops a flyball from Carlos Lee in CF.
Don’t know yet if it is a hit or error. Now they say Lee credited with double.
Astros score on infield hit with bases loaded and 2 outs.
Maholm got the hit, which deflected at Roy.
so when do the phillie phans start throwing batteries at Lidge for the blown saves?

Adam LaRoche with a blooper to LFer.
Another one of those Carlos Lee “I can’t get there” pop up turned hit.
Andy LaRoche singles.
It would have been nice if Tejada had shown more range…but the groundball was hit hard.
Berkman can't come through though....hits a broken bat fly ball to LF.
Swing looked like one of Berkman’s classic homer swings…but obviously broken bat slows the ball off his bat.
Michaels out on medium depth flyball...
Michaels doesn’t strike me as a good pinch hitter. He seems to hit everything on the fly. And so far he mostly shows “warning track power.” He has hit into some bad luck, sure. But his results have been disappointing.
Michaels' futility wouldn't be so bad....
if Erstad were hitting well off the bench. But Erstad is struggling on offense too.
stolen base by LaRoche and error on Maysonet who couldn't hold on to throw...
from Pudge. Now Burdak has gone wild with 2 outs. Both LaRoches on base with walks.
Wilson injured but talks his way into staying in game.
Sanchez dove behind bag to stop Kepp’s grounder, then rolled the ball to the bag and Wilson had to flop onto the bag to grab the ball…all the while Pudge was sliding into him.
as I recall the move by Hawkins...
LeTroy made his glance toward 2d base, and Morgan apparently expected him to go back to his delivery and started to move farther from the bag. However, instead of going back to his delivery, Hawkins just started running straight at Morgan, who momentarily froze and then took off for 3d….Hawkins easily threw him out at 3d.
I did as soon as he signed up for World Baseball Classic
But I got to think he’ll do fine after the all star break, maybe before

I've been worried since he blew up in the game against Japan.
The past few months are not reassuring. He’ll get better, though, I’m sure.

maybe Ausmus was a security blanket for Roy.
He definitely seems to be on a different page than Pudge sometimes. I don’t see any signs of injury. His velocity remains good. But his curveball comes and goes. That seems to be the biggest problem.
I don't think having Ausmus would fix Roy's curve.
Or improve his ability to hit the corners.

After reading the article on the game in the chronicle today...
it is clear that Roy’s problems are of the mental, rather than physical variety. What Roy describes is almost like getting the “yips,” in those two bad innings. I’m not sure what caused Roy’s lack of confidence or anxiety in those innings, it could be the perceived pressure of carrying the team or perhaps the continued frustration of bad luck. I get the feeling that Roy doesn’t have a lot of confidence in the pitching coach. He may not have confidence in Pudge, given their lack of experience together. So, I could see Ausmus as sort of security blanket for Roy when he got into trouble.
