Kata gets the start at 2B over Maysonet

Presumably because he’s a switch hitter.

Scott Baker scares me

it's gonna cost us games

especially interleague. That play Michaels misplayed yesterday happened about 6 times in the PIT/MN series to PIT OF’s. They were like a circus out there losing balls in the roof and misplaying bounces,

Probably good for the city though. Metrodome is kind of a dump. We’ll miss the Loud though. Loudest stadium in baseball when the fans are into it.

Lance you are supposed to know how to perform a rundown.

Kata didn’t work well on that either.

by clack on Jun 20, 2009 7:44 PM CDT reply actions

Berkman waited too long and let the runner get past Tejada. And for some reason Kata was standing about 2 feet on the outfield side of 2d base, instead of moving toward Berkman. Berkman had to throw to the bag, and Kata had to try and reach down for the catch on the bag as the runner was comng in.

I just wish there were some way

to make Coop even marginally aware of the value of his outs. Maybe give him that run expectancy chart. Maybe let him have a chat with Earl Weaver or something. It’s just infuriating to watch him sac bunt at the top of the freaking order.

If he’s that concerned about Tejada grounding into double plays, then he needs to stop batting him in the 3-hole. Switch him with Pence or something. Christ.

A good friend of mine used to say, "This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Personally

I would’ve left Sampson in the game.

lol

after Twins home games, Bert Blyleven and Ron Coomer do an instructional segment down on the field during the postgame show. One specific aspect of baseball is addressed.

Tonigh’ts instructional? The rundown. lol.

"That ball picked up some speed

though they say that’s not possible…"

That’s right, Brownie. It violates several laws of physics/reality.

My vote for Game Hero

Michael Bourn

Anybody want to nominate Pence?

by AstroAndy on Jun 20, 2009 9:16 PM CDT reply actions

We don’t give the Game Hero tag to guys for good defense very often, so why not.

Matt Kata, 0-for-4, but flashed some serious run-saving leather…your Game Hero

yes...

actually I think LAD’s rant against Cooper’s bunting occurred on a sac bunt after Coop was ejected. I thought about mentioning that at the time, but the rant was too good to detract from it. At the time, they the camera took a shot of Ed Romero, who I think was the temporary manager.
