Bourn walks...

then on a Tejada hit, Upton lets the ball go under his glove…and he just stands there, because he knows Bourn will score.

1-0 astros.

Berkman with a 2 run HR.

As soon as he hit it, the field mic picks up someone saying,“Oh no!” very loudly.

3-0 Astros.

well,

you know he gets a lot of work in the outfield, hustling after balls and…

I’m sorry. I can’t finish that.

2 run HR by Drew.

Moehler hasn’t looked very impressive so far in the first inning.

by clack on Jun 14, 2009 3:30 PM CDT reply actions

uch

after being a decent SP last ear moehler has been dissapointing…maybe hes hurt…go DL him and bring up a good SP from round rock (bazardo?)

by EveryHoustonTeamRox! on Jun 14, 2009 3:32 PM CDT reply actions

A Milton Bradley kind of day for Upton in RF...

Kata with a blooper and Upton should have caught it, but he just let it fall.

by clack on Jun 14, 2009 3:34 PM CDT reply actions

I'm sure

that Coop and Wade are hoping for that mid season turn around, but I think Moheler is done.

I think the Astros have the highest percentage

of high-socks wearers in the league right now.

Good Christ Snyder runs like a catcher.

Like Carlos Lee weighted down after lunch.

It is nice to see Berkman and Pence homer on the same day. That would be a nice trend.

ooh

great DP. Bouncer to Moehler, Kata to Berkman.

Chances Bazardo and Norris get called up by August?

I’d say 50%

so...

51%?

I meant you are probably right....50%....

we can get it accurate to the percentage point.

by clack on Jun 14, 2009 4:09 PM CDT up reply actions

75%

with the age of the Astros staff, and injury history, we may see them earlier

So, Manny Acta got fired.

If I were Wade/Drayton I’d kill myself fire Coop and hire Acta.

why??

Don’t know much about him…

"now you chunkin' in there.."

by jano4 on Jun 14, 2009 4:18 PM CDT up reply actions

He is, by all accounts, a very smart manager who is getting fired because his team sucks, rather than because of anything he did wrong.

He understands baseball stats, he knows the value of patience, and he has a good relationship with his players. Coop has none of these things.

How are we judging that trade about now? See that Scott is doing well, how are those Albers doing?

"now you chunkin' in there.."

by jano4 on Jun 14, 2009 4:35 PM CDT reply actions

I'd say it's a wash

I don’t the Astros would do it over again, but they’d probably still trade Scott and Co. Just for something different.

Your friendly neighborhood Dreamshake mod.

by Only_A_Lad on Jun 14, 2009 4:38 PM CDT up reply actions

Agreed

At the time I thought they gave up too much, but when Patton turned injured worst than I thought, it was probably a good trade, especially if we can parley Tejeda into some minor league talent at the trade deadline

Ortiz will PH again.

He is becoming a professional pinch hitter. He will try to sac bunt.

runner goes to 2d on a wild pitch anyway.

good thing…Ortiz has gone to 2-2 without getting it done.

Did Moehler have a Quality Start

I know that stat is pretty bogus, but I can’t remember the criteria

"now you chunkin' in there.."

by jano4 on Jun 14, 2009 5:05 PM CDT reply actions

Wow...Bourn is singlehandedly responsible for a run....

like one of the greats, such as Jackie Robinson.

Bourn steals 2d, then steals 3d, and with a grounder to 3d, Bourn runs home just as 3d baseman threw to 1st base. Bourn sneakily trailed 3d baseman Reynolds as he fielded the ball.

by clack on Jun 14, 2009 5:14 PM CDT reply actions

Bourn has really come into his own this season

A few more cost-controlled seasons like this would be absolutely wonderful.

As of last night, he led the league with 20 stolen bases (David Wright in second with 17). That display right there should move him up and tie him for 3rd in all of baseball (tied with Chone Figgins and BJ Upton).

by AstroAndy on Jun 14, 2009 5:21 PM CDT up reply actions

Yes

He really has begun to show all his talent, and to use the tools he has. Somewhere Ed Wade is smiling. His on base is really impressive as well.

Mr. Chad to pitch against his old team.

Qualls has been having a great season, and is being recognized as one of the best relievers in baseball. However, he has also suffered some arm soreness lately.

by clack on Jun 14, 2009 5:40 PM CDT reply actions

Valverde strikes out the side.

That’s a way to show you are back, Jose.

ASTROS WIN.

by clack on Jun 14, 2009 5:52 PM CDT reply actions

and that's 5 series in a row?!

Does that seem like it should be possible? Man, we better enjoy this feasting on weak teams while it lasts.

Well

I wouldn’t say they are all scrubs…Rockies have won 11 in a row since leaving Houston, the Cubs, so this maybe for real????
