Astros-Padres Saturday night game
We join the game in the second inning. Moehler has struck out three of the six batters he faced (all retired in order).
All four Astros batters to bat so far have made outs too.
I missed te first inning when I took a shower. The only fielding play of any merit was a nice recovery by Bourn in center to make a catch that sunk on him a the last second.
Tejada just singled for the first hit of the game.
Berkman is not playing again (Bad left wrist). Darin Erstad playing first.
Astros do not score in the second.

JR Towles batting
I wonder f being called up has been good or bad for Towles,.
He has not played much. Meanwhile the Round Rock catcher has done well in Towles absence.
JR takes ten pitches before popping to short left

Matsui under .260 BA
at what point does Coop move him down the order to 7 or 8? At this point Bourn and Pence are better off being our 1 and 2 hitters.
With Berkman struggling, I might consider a lineup like this:
Bourn
Pence
Tejada
Lee
Berkman
Blum
Rodriguez
Matsui
Pitcher

Cooper's overmanaging of the relievers gets kind of comical.
Wright comes in to get a LHB and fails. LT Hawkins comes in…so it must be a RHB, right? Wrong. Headley is a switch hitter and moves over to bat LH, which is his BEST side (as pointed out by JD). Hawkins meanwhile struggles against LHB.

yes, it’s the Padres, but still. Cooper is at least justified and bringing him back into the rotation. Now we’ll have him AND Paulino in there at the same time.
