Before Carlos Lee tripled
Bourn singled, stole second, and scored on Berkman’s homerun (this is Cincinnati for goodness sake).
After Lee trple triple he stayed at third on Pence’s single and wa straned there as Pudgend Masui made ots 2 and 3

This all started with Tejada's error
Pet theory – If shortstop makes an error , at least one run will score in the inning

lol...
Wandy with 0 ER this game. I mean, yeah Tejada should be at fault for the error, but it’s not his fault Wandy gave up 4 hits after the error and couldn’t help out his buddy. It’s one of the very few times when ERA doesn’t tell the whole story. WHIP is more accurate here.

I thought umpires normally give the shortstop an "in the neighborhood" call...
on turn at 2d base. Of course, you can’t rely on umpires to do that all the time. Obvously very costly mistake, already costing the Astros two runs.
that's quite a barehand catch of a ball by Arias.
Ball was chopped high and came down like a pop up. Arias caught it with his bare hand and threw to 1st—-almost all in one motion. A week or so ago, the FSN broadcast showed a picture of Arias’ hands, which are are very large.
This one looked weird
I’d have to see it again, but Tejada may have juggled the ball (but I may be misremembering)

That's embarrassing....
Matsui stops at 2d base when ball is in the outfield because Alex Gonzales deked him into thinking a double play had just taken place. Matsui stopped and started to leave like he was out before picking up 3d base coach. He went to 3d. No real damage, since he just scored on a groundball.
But if I was an Astros’ pitcher, I might be tempted to give the Reds’ middle infielders some chin music.

Harang got a hit to Bourn in CF. Rosales, on 2B, sprinted for home, Bourn made the throw.
Pudge was blocking the plate with his knee and I think Rosales might have caught a piece of it as he slid across home.
Thank you
I recall Harang’s hit. I must have been typing and missed the play at the plate.

Per Jose de Jesus Ortiz
Rosales never made contact at the plate with Rodriguez.
“I just got caught in the wrong place,” [Pudge] said. “I went down and my knee was in the wrong way. I went to tag him and my left knee got stuck. I felt a little pop on the inside of my left knee in the back.”

he has had a few good outings recently. Deshais said (in a previous outing that Fulchino has started using a split finger pitch.
when hyou have to score 3 runs against a good closer...
that tends to discourage you. Too bad the Astros aren’t facing Brad Lidge in the 9th. I hear he is a good guy to beat up on right now.

try to answer my own question.
Believe it or not, Carlos Lee is having a big infield hit season (for him). Before today’s infield hit, 10.9% of Lee’s hits were of the infield variety. In a normal season, Lee has a 4% – 6 % infield hits.
ASTROS LOSE 8-5
Game ends on a double play.
I don’t understand. I looked at the individual stats yesterday. Astros individual batting stats(except for Berkman and Matsui ) are more than adequate to have a winning record. But the Astros keep falling short.

yesterday Cooper made a point that the Astros' batting averages are good....
that the Astros team batting average is among the league leaders, but that the team isn’t scoring. His conclusion was that the Astros aren’t getting their hits at the right time (“too many 2 out hits”). I suspect a better explanation is too few walks (OBP) and too few extra base hits, particularly homers.
Walks
Per ESPN Average NL team has 162 walks so far. Astros have 134.; and Berkman has 30 of those.
