Hmmmm....Could Coop have developed some new found confidence in Michael Bourn's ability to hit at the top of the lineup? Either way, I like Pence batting higher in the order than Geoff Blum. Miguel Tejada returns to the fifth spot, where he hasn't hit in quite some time.

Definitely Pence should hit higher..

I’m not sure about the Bourn move though. I suppose it couldn’t hurt.. the last line up was not scoring enough runs..

quick flyout to Pence

Weeks got right under a curve in the middle of the plate. Otherwise, command has been good in the first 4 pitches.

Things I like so far about Paulino:

1) 96 mph fastball
2) Good movement
3) Not afraid to pitch inside

Dear Cecil Cooper

The reason you leave so many guys on base is because you waste outs bunting fast guys to second base.

Here's why

Houston’s Dikembe Mutombo Named Winner Of 2008-09 J. Walter Kennedy Citizenship Award

Dikembe Mutombo of the Houston Rockets is the 2008-09 recipient of the J. Walter Kennedy Citizenship Award presented annually by the Professional Basketball Writers Association. The award is named for the second commissioner of the league and honors an NBA player or coach for outstanding service and dedication to the community.

Mutombo, in his 18th NBA season, becomes the first two-time winner of the award since it was first presented in 1975. The Rockets’ 7’2" center was cited in 2000-01 for his charitable works while playing with the Philadelphia 76ers ? which mirrors his timeline in striving for the past decade to establish and fund the Biamba Marie Mutombo Hospital and Research Center in his native Kinshasa, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Mutombo solicited contributions for the $29 million, 300-bed facility and personally donated approximately $19 million.

A good friend of mine used to say, "This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Rockets on pace to possibly

score more in the first half than the Astros have all season.

It takes more than pitching to win a pennant, but not much!

despite what I said, I kept broadcast on to hear press conference...

Q is day to day. Find out more tomorrow.

Cooper is mad. he is somewhat sarcastic and short with reporters. he apologizes for cutting off reporter, at one point, saying, “I’m really upset.”

Cooper is irritated at reporters asking if Cameron made a dirty play. “I don’t understand your question. What am I supposed to think? The catcher is sitting on the plate. The runner has to hit him to get to the plate.” Cooper said both players did their job and took their lumps.

Cooper said Paulino was good for four innings but not after that. He complains about Paulino making bad pitches when he has a 0-2 count. But Cooper said he is more upset about the offense. He said he won’t give the other team credit.

I noticed that a few people at BrewCrewBall took umbrage at Cooper's remarks.

First, Cooper frequently refuses to give the other team credit. I don’t think it was a slam at the Brewers in particular.

Second, they thought Cooper said that the Astros are better than the Brewers. I can understand why they think that, because he wasn’t very clear (and maybe I’m wrong about what he said). However, i thought Cooper was really saying “we are better than that” rather than “we are better than them.”
