Hmmmm....Could Coop have developed some new found confidence in Michael Bourn's ability to hit at the top of the lineup? Either way, I like Pence batting higher in the order than Geoff Blum. Miguel Tejada returns to the fifth spot, where he hasn't hit in quite some time.

HA!
First to post.
Time to buckle down start hitting after yesterdays performance.
Go Astros!

Definitely Pence should hit higher..
I’m not sure about the Bourn move though. I suppose it couldn’t hurt.. the last line up was not scoring enough runs..
quick flyout to Pence
Weeks got right under a curve in the middle of the plate. Otherwise, command has been good in the first 4 pitches.
Things I like so far about Paulino:
1) 96 mph fastball
2) Good movement
3) Not afraid to pitch inside
Dear Cecil Cooper
The reason you leave so many guys on base is because you waste outs bunting fast guys to second base.
Love,

hindsight....
but a steal by matsui before the bourn bunt would have resulted in a 1-0 lead at this point..
Paulino looks good
Just good.

A good friend of mine used to say, "This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.
At lot more confidence and aggression
Than in Round Rock.

Good.
We need him.
Or is it that the Brewers are hitting poorly?
I haven’t looked at their stats yet, but I keep hearing all these low averages on the radio.

but I think the hitting picked up somewhat in the series win over the Mets.
2 quick innings so far
Good, good.

Listened to the radio last night
for SEVENTEEN minutes before Milo mentioned the score (and only then end of inning).
Then learned the Astros were trailing…..

Anyone see the excitement in the Reds/Braves game?
Volquez hit the SS and the benches came out. Lots of jawing. Now Volquez has walked in a couple runs.
Would like to see
Dusty and Bobby Cox take a swing at each other!

same here
He was described as a good middle-of-the-rotation prospect before his injury, and I believe that. He’s shown a great combination of control, velocity, and stuff.
Paulino was the Astros' No. 1 prospect after 2007.
He also made some of the 50 best prospect lists, if I recall. He fell off the map after his injury. But we sometimes forget that he was a legitimate pitching prospect.
Is the Matsui-Bourn lineup due to the fact
that Q is catching?
Seems to me we give up a good chunk of our already mediocre offense that way.

And what the fuck did Cameron do?
Radio says people get fined for that shit in the NFL.
Of course, I didn’t see it.
Milo's talking out of his ass
Cameron came down the baseline hard, put his shoulder into Q. The catcher doesn’t have the right to block the plate, and that’s what happened.
Wasn't Milo
Other dudes.
I say “radio” when the other guys talk cause I don’t know their names. :p

Yeah, ti would seem like an odd thing for Milo to say
he’s been around long enough to see much worse.
cameron looked like a running back plowing into the linebacker.
Cameron had his speed going, and he is not a small guy. Quintero tried to hold his ground, and somehow held onto the ball after both collided head on. Both guys ended up on the ground not looking too good.
Damn unlucky.
Finally gets to start and is injured in the 3rd inning.

No, Brownie. Don’t encourage her. I want to hear the game.

lol
we always have blum.
No, I think Pudge would have tried to do the Ausmus-style light tag and get out of the way play.
and the bad thing is that Paulino is probably pitching himself into being sent back...
down to Round Rock when Moehler finishes his rehab starts.
may not make sense...
but Paulino has to be so good that Coop ignores the “nobody loses there starting job due to injury” view.

What happened to Quintero?
I read above Pudge replaced him and I assume it had to do something with the collision at the plate – but what was injured? Was he in obvious pain?

even when Fulchino had "clean" innings in relief...
the hitters were hitting long fly outs and line drives for outs. He has given up a couple of massive HRs recently.

Here's why
Houston’s Dikembe Mutombo Named Winner Of 2008-09 J. Walter Kennedy Citizenship Award
Dikembe Mutombo of the Houston Rockets is the 2008-09 recipient of the J. Walter Kennedy Citizenship Award presented annually by the Professional Basketball Writers Association. The award is named for the second commissioner of the league and honors an NBA player or coach for outstanding service and dedication to the community.
Mutombo, in his 18th NBA season, becomes the first two-time winner of the award since it was first presented in 1975. The Rockets’ 7’2" center was cited in 2000-01 for his charitable works while playing with the Philadelphia 76ers ? which mirrors his timeline in striving for the past decade to establish and fund the Biamba Marie Mutombo Hospital and Research Center in his native Kinshasa, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Mutombo solicited contributions for the $29 million, 300-bed facility and personally donated approximately $19 million.

despite what I said, I kept broadcast on to hear press conference...
Q is day to day. Find out more tomorrow.
Cooper is mad. he is somewhat sarcastic and short with reporters. he apologizes for cutting off reporter, at one point, saying, “I’m really upset.”
Cooper is irritated at reporters asking if Cameron made a dirty play. “I don’t understand your question. What am I supposed to think? The catcher is sitting on the plate. The runner has to hit him to get to the plate.” Cooper said both players did their job and took their lumps.
Cooper said Paulino was good for four innings but not after that. He complains about Paulino making bad pitches when he has a 0-2 count. But Cooper said he is more upset about the offense. He said he won’t give the other team credit.
I noticed that a few people at BrewCrewBall took umbrage at Cooper's remarks.
First, Cooper frequently refuses to give the other team credit. I don’t think it was a slam at the Brewers in particular.
Second, they thought Cooper said that the Astros are better than the Brewers. I can understand why they think that, because he wasn’t very clear (and maybe I’m wrong about what he said). However, i thought Cooper was really saying “we are better than that” rather than “we are better than them.”
I hope he thinks we're better than them
He’s OUR manager!
