Astros pick up Jeff Keppinger

According to John Fay of the Cincinnati Enquirer, the Astros have picked up out of options Jeff Keppinger from the Reds for a player to be named later. He is expected to be Boone's replacement to go along side Blum. I have to say I'm not very impressed.  Especially considering he is a light hitting shortstop. Over his years in the majors he has played 155 games at short and just 35 at 3rd. In the minors, he had some decent years average wise and put up a nice average for the Reds in 2007 but the most home runs he has ever hit is 10.....in A ball. Maybe this is just a low cost stop-gap and brass is hoping Chris Johnson pans out fast and is up from Round Rock soon. And maybe I'm a little disappointed because I wanted to see Dallas Mcpherson cranking 450 homers over the left field wall. Heres hoping this move works out for us. Link

Also, according to Alyson Footer, the club has optioned Edwin Maysonet to Round Rock.
