Soriano trade might be because Brewers ink Hawkins
At least Ed can stick to a plan...Two-year deal for 7.5 million for Hawk, thanks to dallasastro_fan for the update.

Pure speculation:
I wonder if the Astros agreed to take an offer for Hawkins off the table as part of the negotiations for Soriano? Are the Braves just looking to shed a few million here? I still have a hard time seeing them part with Soriano for anything less than real prospects or a productive, cheap big leaguer.
Hawk to BrewCrew - 2 Yrs at $7.5MM
Per MLBTR, Hawk’s agency is tweeting those details.
I have to think that the only reason Wade didn’t sign Hawkins is because he didn’t want to go to two years. Otherwise, the dollar amounts are reasonable—-on an annual basis, less than Hawkins earned last year.
I agree, and that gives me a modicum of hope that Wade isn’t bad at his job. Not going two years on a 37-year old reliever is smart.

Yep, if it were that kind of money for one year I’d be disappointed that he’s not returning. Reports indicated we were close to a deal and then the Brewers came on pretty strong, I’m glad that didn’t cause Ed to make a rash decision/offer.

it's official
Article at the official Astros site starts with "LaTroy Hawkins, who agreed to a two-year, $7.5 million deal with the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday, said the Astros offered him only a one-year contract, which he said was a deal-breaker. "
