Around SBN: Dana White Announces Koscheck vs. Hendricks for UFC on FOX

Well, I guess they got a backup outfielder, though it's not the one everyone expected. The Astros also get a very interesting project in Chacin with previous experience under Arnsberg. Will be avidly following spring training to see how he does.

jason freakin michaels

ugh, really?

$800k for this coming year, an option for the next.

not that i had high hopes for the ‘10 season, but this just makes me think they’re conceding the year already

Ed Wade must really, really like Jason Michaels. Not my favorite though.

He also dropped two flyballs in one game in Arlington and Minnesota.

Jason Michaels is getting paid

For Aug 5th – Aug 9th. That’s it.

A good friend of mine used to say, "This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

A hit's a hit's a hit.

As I mentioned in the other thread, I like this move. It’s impossible for a pinch hitter to avoid looking a little streaky because the sample sizes are so small. All I need to see is that he held true to his career numbers without major statistical red flags and I’m satisfied.

.752 OPS this year, .754 OPS for his career. 9.4 career UZR/150 in the outfield. Enough said.

Fielding Bible has Michaels at -1 run in LF, -1 run in CF, and -1 run in RF last year. However, the sample size is so small last year, that is may not mean much.

I like this move as well

if it’s for under 1 mil doesn’t bother me at all.

I also like the fact that his family is so involved in the charity work.

I'm really just down on this coming year

Half of our regular lineup (pitcher nonwithstanding) is Towles/Quintero, Feliz/Blum, Matsui, and Manzella. Our fairly dismal offense from last year is going to be a good bit worse this year..

by robolundgren on Dec 14, 2009 9:32 PM CST reply actions

as it stands, the Astros are likely to be offensively challenged. Matsui may show a bounceback season, for what that is worth, and we can hope for Towles to finally achieve his offensive projections. Those two possibilities would be helpful at least.

by clack on Dec 15, 2009 7:19 AM CST up reply actions

That would be nice, especially if you could slot Matsui in the 2 hole allowing Pence to move to the 5th spot, Feliz 6th, Towles and Manzella. As is I’d put Pence in the 2nd spot and Feliz 5th, Towles, Matsui, and Manzella which is a bit concerning at this point.

gustavo showed promise early in his career, if he can turn it around he has a chance to be very effective

what’s the word on that 17 year old, anyone got any info on him?

Yep, yep, that's all we needed to contend.

Hooray for Chacin as a reclamation project! His pitching motion pisses me off.

Remember to retire Fin's number, Mark.
