The most overexposed teams in the MLB
Joe Posnanski had an in interesting post discussing the cy young and got a little bit into overexposed teams, which I responded to via email. But I though I'd bring it over here at TCB to see what some of your thoughts were.
1. Yankees
2. Red Sox
3. Phillies (only here because they've been to the WS the past 2 years)
4. Mets
5. Cubs
Being an Astro fan I went by how many players I can name on the other team, and I tried not to be biased towards the NL Central teams because I see those teams quite a bit more. Obviously though I think the Cubs outside of the NL Central get over exposed because of their 100+ years of failing to get to a World Series, the Cardinals come close but they only have 1 overexposed player in Albert Pujols and you could throw LaRussa and Dave Duncan in their. They are probably ranked 6th for me but the Cubs and their curse trump a prince and a couple masterminds. The Phillies being a good team the last few years they make my list, if they're bad they actually fall off the list which can't be said for the other 4 teams. If the other 4 teams are bad they'd still be within the top 5 of the overexposed teams.

I tried to go with my instincts, first team to pop in my head. The other thing is I can name more players off the Phillies than I can off the Cubs or Mets this year.

I’d put the Dodgers in their somewhere (tied for 5th?). Sure the left coast is more laid back than the east, however it seems like Torre heading west brought ‘legitimacy’ back to Dodgers baseball. And of course Manny and his ‘reality TV’ personality – can’t seem to keep that out of the media.
It would be interesting to see the headline counts for 2009 and which players dominate the list.
Zito’s resurgence, and Sanchez threw a no-hitter this year.

Having a player nick named kung fu panda doesn’t hurt either =P

I hadn’t even thought of the dodgers, the Manny mania has settled down a bit since his arrival. The media has cooled on covering him to since his suspension. I think replacing the Cubs with the Dodgers would be fair.

I think the cubs should stay
Having them on Fox Game of the week, just about every week it seems. And watch ESPN and hear Cubs news almost every night. I think they are more then LAD
Ever since the launch of the MLB Network I’ve been fortunate enough to avoid the four letter network entirely (I typically go to SI.com for my sporting news).
The Cubs also do have most of their games broadcast on WGN.
