Do you think Joe Blanton feels bad that CC Sabathia, on three days rest, is better than he is on full rest?
I asked this question to a few people early, via sms, and I liked the responses. Let's see what we can, collectively, come up with.

You know who Joe Blanton is, to me?
He is the guy when one of your starting pitchers gets hurt in fantasy, you always pass over on the free agent list on your way to selecting some young pitcher…the young guys from Oakland or Toronto or Tampa were always selected more in my main league this past season than was Joe Blanton. I guess people would rather fail with younger, lesser known guys, than go down with Blanton and his relatively poor K numbers and rate stats.

I'd rather get slaughtered with flukey ERA's
But still capture sterling K numbers than go with Blanton.
(Our league tracks K, K/9, and K:BB. K=Gold, to us.)

A good friend of mine used to say, "This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Blanton has always been a fallback...
…. in all my fantasy leagues, I only used him as a fill-in. I’m still perplexed as to why Manuel wouldn’t have used JA Happ over Blanton…

Yeah, I don’t get it either. It makes even less sense if you assume Manuel doesn’t delve too deep into stats, since going by ERA, Happ was the best starting pitcher on their team this season.
(Of course, his FIP was 4.33, but that’s still better than Blanton’s 4.45.)

Apparently, Brad Lidge saved his post season melt down for the most critical moment. All with 2 outs and the score tied, with a result that it almost kills the Phillies’ chances at the World Series.

well it was deja vu
all over again. Agree with the sentaments on Happ, he was at times just as dominant as Lee was, why not let him go out there and see if he’s ready for the big stage. the comparison as to wether Blanton should feel bad, hell no, he’s not making Sabathia’s contract dollars, all he can do is what he can do.
I used to be disgusted, now I try to be amused....
