Kind of a sad list
It makes me a little weary because of how few “true prospects” are on it, but I’d probably agree with your rankings nonetheless. At least Castro and Lyles are a very good top two. I’ve heard scouts speaking very admiringly about Lyles’ work, and supposedly his ceiling is top of the rotation stuff. A good best case scenario would be him, Norris, Paulino, and Wandy providing a great top 4 without having to look on the FA market. It will definitely be at least 2011 before Lyles shows up at the big league level, though.
I Disagree
For one I don’t think some of these guys should really count as “prospects” anymore. Too many guys over 25 on this list… I wish the best to Tommy Manzella, Bogusevic, and Drew Locke, but I think they’re past their prospect status. This list doesn’t even mention Jose Vallejo (22 years old AAA), Dallas Keuchel (09 draft), Brandon Wikoff (09 draft), Brad Dydalewicz (part of the lexington rotation), etc. I put together my list w/o including anyone over 25.
1. Jason Castro 2. Jordan Lyles 3. Jiovanni Mier 4. Ross Seaton 5. Dallas Keuchel 6. Jose Vallejo 7. TJ Steele 8. JB Shuck 9. Chia Jen-Lo 10. Henry Villar 11. Juri Perez 12. Jon Gaston 13. Brandon Wikoff 14. Brad Dydalewicz 15. Koby Clemens.
I think the main problem is our AAA and AA were empty as far as talent goes so we have a lot of decent youngsters and not many GOOD older prospects
Also… is Max Sapp still going to try to make a comeback? And any news about Tanner Bushue’s back?
