Andy Pettitte on the verge of re-signing with the Yankees
I thought there was a degree of ill will between the Yankees front office and Pettitte. Apparently not enough to keep him from signing a one year contract with the pinstripers. Terms of the deal have not been disclosed, as the deal isn't yet official.
I pledge to you, the Crawfish Boxes public, that I will not make another Yankee related post for the foreseeable future. Two posts in two days makes me feel a little dirty...
***HLP Update (3:13 PM)***
ESPN is now saying it's a deal for $5.5 million...roughly the same as what Wolf/Garland/Looper are asking for, apparently.

I was really hoping that the Astros could get Pettitte.
He’d probably be as good as Wolf, and he wouldn’t cost us a draft pick. That would be kickass.
Here's the latest report (4:30 CST on Monday)
NEW YORK — Andy Pettitte and the New York Yankees agreed Monday to a $5.5 million, one-year contract that brings the left-hander back to New York.
Pettitte can make an additional $6.5 million on performance bonuses and bonuses based on time on the active roster.

Damnit
Why could we not have offered that?!?!

A good friend of mine used to say, "This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Yeah
But as the 11th hour approaches or passes us by, the inflection on that is a lot more desperate than it was in December.
