Mike Hampton - Wouldja?
Hampton, who started for the Braves on Sunday afternoon and gave up a two-run homer to his good friend Brad Ausmus in the third inning, will be a free agent in a few weeks, and he confirmed after the game that he would be interested in signing with the Astros.
"I've always loved this place," Hampton said after the Astros beat the Braves, 3-1. "Definitely. I'm sure there will be interest on both sides. We'll see if we can work something out. I've always loved it here."

I feel like, at absolute best, we’d get league average out of him. At worst, he’d never set foot on the field. Before his injuries, he was good for 170+ innings. Post-Tommy John? Anybody’s guess.
I was an “on the cheap” voter, so I feel obligated to be specific…I’m talking roughly Chacon money (~$2mil/yr.) with incentives based on innings pitched.

I voted on the cheap too
An incentives laden deal for innings would be the only way I’d touch him. He showed some promise, so it might be a good insurance bet against Moehler falling apart.
A good friend of mine used to say, "This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Has to be real cheap
like 1 – 1.5 million (and even that’s pushing it). It just seems to me that anything more would be better spent elsewhere. He’s just so injury prone, and the payoff is probably so little that it’s just not worth it.
Really, the value is just in the nostalgia of having Mike Hampton pitch in Houston again. And I don’t think that’s worth giving up what his paycheck would otherwise buy us.

He is a big health risk...
even compared to guys like Sheets. So, you have to figure there is a high probability he won’t spend much time on the field. But he is a LHP, and if he will sign for a cheap deal, OK. If he is signed, the understanding should be that he will be one pitcher among several competing for the No. 5 rotation slot.

If we sign Sheets, Wolf, Pettitte and Hampton
For a total of 20MM a yr, then chances are one or two of them would stay healthly. :p

Wouldn't this look great?
Oswalt, Sheets, Wolf, Rodriguez, Moehler
Backe goes as a Set Up man he has the attitude I think.

No
Wolf will not look great, nor will Moehler.

How about this one:
1) Oswalt
2) Pettitte
3) Sheets
4) AJ Burnett
5) Hampton
I call it the All-Gimpy Starting Rotation. If they make a collective 40 starts, I’d be surprised.
Except for the Wizard, of course, who will be perfectly fine, and nothing will ever happen to him.

I wouldn't say great
I’m still not won over by Wolf or Moehler as a full season good pitcher
