Houston Astros at New York Mets, Aug 25, 2008 6:10 PM CDT
Last week, I reported that Brian Moehler is sporting a + 5.00 DIPS ERA and postulated that our defense was propping him significantly. We'll see how lady luck is feeling tonight as he toes the rubber against Mike Pelfrey. Will it be a series split or a series win for the Astros?
In other news, to echo what Evan posted earlier, as Astros fans, we need to participate in Tom Tango's defense survey. We're the only people qualified because we tune in game in, game out. To add some spice to this plea for help, Tango mentioned that the Mariners have had 200 people respond to the survey. The Astros, as of this afternoon: 6. I'm one and so is Evan. I'll just go ahead and say what Mr. Tango was too polite to: that's embarrassing. The Mariners fans have had 33.3 times more participation than Astros fans have. This is from a team that's so bad they use a guy who's OPSing less than .600 as their DH.
Get on it or, and this is a threat, I'll post a link and a condemnation every day until we have respectable numbers. We have too many people who come to this blog everyday to be lagging behind some latte-sipping dudes from Seattle.
This takes no more than five minutes...DO IT.

Score is already 3-0 Mets as I tune in
Not sure how scoring happened but Astros trail 3-0 after one inning

wish
i wish mike bourn could be 2/3 of the player reyes is.
by Evan Hochschild on Aug 25, 2008 6:37 PM CDT up reply actions
no you don't
It sounds good… but that would make him a .191 hitter with a .224 OBP
Wait… Bourn IS 2/3 the player Reyes is ;)

hahaha
A good friend of mine used to say, "This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

ironically
Watching the Dodgers/Phillies on ESPN2 and they’re having tech problems so they are flipping between other games. I saw the HR and it really wasn’t all that bad of a pitch.
Astros go quietly in the second.
I’m leaving work for home now.

I'll admit it
I didn’t take the Tango survey.. I meant to, but let it slip my mind…
I’ll do it RIGHT NOW though.

Good...Good. I'll be damned if the Mariners beat us.

they will
there’s no doubt in my mind about that…
I have reasoning for this, but I won’t share that reasoning for specific reasons :)
And I’m done btw

Are they cheating?
Bastards. They’re using their lattes to fuel them all night and send repeat ballots.

Astros have their A-1 batting lineup today
If the line-ups filled with bench players over the weekend can score, surely the A-1 premier li\jne up can score, don’t you think.
Don’t you think?
You would think they’d score.
They have a few more innings.

everett-ausmus-pitcher

For Joe

Does anyone think the Astros chances are better than the ~10% they have right now..
Go 'Stros!
Me
They have three more innings. And Mets have a bad bullpen. The Mets announcers are talking the Pitcher may complete the game. If so, then Astros are dead meat.
Let’s chant, “Bullpen, Bullpen, Bullpen.”

I am with you
I think this game is still closer to 80/20 if the Astros can get to the bullpen with a couple innings left…

nice seeing a veteran player like Erstad giving 100% even after the game is basically over with.
