Today is a good day!  The day started off good with the Astros retiring the jersey of future hall of famer Craig Biggio... then the went out on the field and beat the Diamondbacks, ending their 2 game losing streak.

What a dominant performance by the Wizard today.  8 innings pitched, 1 hit, no runs while walking 2 and striking out 10!  Unfortunately, he didn't get the complete game and Valverde came in and finished off the 9th.  Roy Oswalt had it working today... and not one time in the game did he get into trouble... Ty Wigginton may have gotten the player of the game award, but Roy Oswalt was the key to this victory.  Hopefully this is the Roy Oswalt we continue to see this season.

Ty Wigginton did his thing as well... 3 for 4 with the 3 run home run in the 1st inning that gave the Astros enough runs to sail through the rest of the game... after that, no more runs were scored by either team and the Astros moved back to 2 games above .500  and currently 8 games behind the Brewers in the NL Wild Card(Brewers are losing 5-1 in the 9th at the time of this with 1 runner on and 1 out).

The Astros head to Milwaukee for a 3 game series against those Brewers... it's going to be a really tough series as the Astros will face Sabathia, Sheets and Parra in the 3 game series.

The answer to that question will come over the next 3 days.

Brewers lost to Dodgers Sunday too

I’ll pat myself on the back for moving Ethier off my fantasy team bench and making him a starter Sunday It’s hard to know when to start Ethier because his playing time diminished since the Manny trade. I guessed that Torre might give Ethier some playing time Sunday. Ethier hit 2 HRs Sunday, including a 9th inning job which ruined the Brewers’ day.

Great game yesterday

and the pregame ceremony was really well done, I thought.

It’s a shame we couldn’t push another run or two across. We had ample opportunities, and that probably would have allowed Roy a chance to finish it off.

This Brewers series is going to be a tough one. Two out of three would be about as much as you could hope for, but a sweep would absolutely vault the Astros into the Wild Card discussion. A sweep in the other direction would pretty much shut the door on the season.
