There goes the no hitter

Drew doubled to lead off the game

Not off to a good start, Wandy...

Lead off double… moves over on a sac fly and then a four pitch walk. At least the walk sets up the inning ending double play. (For Adam Dunn!!!!!!) NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!

by entropic soul on Aug 15, 2008 7:11 PM CDT reply actions

To be clear...

Sets it up.. hasn’t happened yet.

Adam Dunn

He haunts the Astros,. Batting here with men on first and third

Just when we got him out of the league...

Didn’t he homer against Wandy in his last game?

Pitching coach out to visit Wandy

There’s one out by the way

Control issues?

There’s another walk.
Don’t faulter, Wandy..w e are facing Webb tonight. You need to be at the top of your game.

Al that worry and Dunn walks

Oh oh – Now bases loaded and only one out

Wandy has walked the 3 and 4 batters

Wandy doesn't walk a lot of batters.

I’m calling shenanigans on the home plate ump.

It's Tim McLellan.

Ugh.

D-Backs score 3 runs

on 2 hits and 4 walks.

Wandy does get two strikeouts to end the inning (Chris Burke and Brandon Webb)

yeah

I thought with all the free swingers, Wandy might match up well with them. Though of course there’s Dunn who’s kills the Astros

by mokulen on Aug 15, 2008 7:27 PM CDT up reply actions

I predict

Wandy’s second inning will go better than his first.

It does.

3 up, 3 down.

If he had done that last inning we’d be winning against Brandon Webb right now. >:o

wow

Just looking at the Gameday line-up, three names caught my eye:

Erstad
Newhan
Blum

Back in April, I never would have thought they’d be regular starters for the last six weeks of the season.

by pel on Aug 15, 2008 7:41 PM CDT reply actions

Ha!

I knew Newhan was going to do that. I should start guessing the results of each at bat.

by entropic soul on Aug 15, 2008 7:43 PM CDT reply actions

Web's grounder to fly ball ratio

I forgot the numbers already
but it’s like 4 ground balls for every fly ball

What’s the deal on that? A regular fan cannot come early for batting practice ?

Wandy back in first inning non-form

Two men on, one out – Walks are killing him

Astros may win this game

but I don’t think Wandy wil be around to get the win

Luckily he has Chris Burke

sure to be an easy out

Wandy

Always seems to be hot or cold. Never in between.

by pel on Aug 15, 2008 8:00 PM CDT reply actions

I know the Astros probably plan on using Sampson for multiple innings

but, I don’t like him as the long relief guy… he’s much better 1 inning at a time.

that’s not the point :)

?

Burke better Burke.

Or rather.. GIDP.. would be better.

to get the runner on third out on a rundown is fine.

But I secretly hoped for a burke

My error - its only 5-1

The earlier run did not score apparently

Astros fan for life

by Joe in Birmingham on Aug 15, 2008 8:27 PM CDT up reply actions

I suggest...

we walk Webb.
Then we try to pick him off about 10 times.
Then we allow a wild pitch so he has to run to 2nd base.
Then we try to pick him off there 10 more times.
I think he’ll be tired by then.

We need smarter hitting coaches.

Stop swinging at every pitch Webb throws cause you are not going to hit it. Make him throw more pitches to get him out of the game. Especially you, Quintero. At this rate he will pitch a complete game.

Olympic Beach volleyball question

Why do they play to 21 points on the first two games and only to15 points on the deciding third game?

Astros fan for life

by Joe in Birmingham on Aug 15, 2008 9:08 PM CDT reply actions

If you think that's bad,

you should see the idiotic rules they have for baseball.

If they go into extras, each team starts off their half of the inning with runners on 1st & 2nd and their choice of where to start in the batting order.
