Where have these Astros been all season???  Wow, an 8 game streak is pretty impressive from a team that was sitting in last place a few weeks ago.  Some are kind of downplaying the 2 straight 4 game sweeps since it came against the Reds and the Giants... I'm not...  you still have to play the games and winning 4 games against any team is impressive enough... winning 2 straight 4 games series is really impressive... who cares who they played against.

With the win today, the Astros sit "just" 7 1/2 games back in the NL Wild Card after the Brewers lost today 2-3 to the Padres(see, even the bad teams can win against good teams).  Yes I realize that 7 1/2 games is still a lot of games to overcome against a good team like the Brewers... but 7 1/2 games back is better than 8 1/2 games... and I'll take it for now...

With the win today, the Astros have now won 8 straight and 16 of the last 20 games.  If we can keep this up then maybe... just maybe we'll have a chance at making it to the promised land.

-----------------------------------

Nice job by the bullpen today, coming in during the 6th inning and pitching scoreless ball to help keep the team in this game after Moehler had one of his weaker outings since joining the rotation... A combined effort of Geary, Byrdak, Wright, Hawkins and Valverde managed to throw 3 2/3 scoreless innings of no hit ball... I like it!!!!

The offense wasn't too shabby either.  Four Astros had multiple hit games(including Newhan who I complained about starting before the game) and every starting position played managed to get at least 1 hit.  It's nice to see production from EVERYONE!

Another home run for Berkman tonight(2 run job in the 8th to put the Astros ahead for the game) making that 3 home runs in the past 5 games after going 33 straight games without a dinger.  The power stroke is back... and life is good!

If you can't tell, I'm at least a little bit excited about Astros baseball right now... Hey, it's fun to watch good baseball being played and even more fun to watch your team win.

Next up, the Astros start a 3 game series against the Diamondbacks before heading to Milwaukee to start a 3 game series there.  Pitching match up for tomorrow is Brandon Webb against Wandy Rodriguez.  Webb is having yet another stellar season and is looking to win 20 games for the 1st time in his career.  This season he sits on a 17-4 record with a 2.88 ERA and has won 4 straight games and 6 straight decisions.  It's not gonna be easy, that's for sure.
