It wasn't exactly the best pitched game of Roy Oswalt's career... but he got the job done and earned the win after going 7 innings of 3 run ball.  Roy seemed to be pitching in trouble just about every inning, but the one thing he did manage to do really well, was damage control causing the Giants to strand 11 runners on base.  Roy left after the 7th inning after allowing 10 hits and 3 walks.

After Roy left in the 7th, he was sitting on a loss as the Astros were down 3-2... but in the Astros half of the inning, the offense exploded for 8 runs(including a grand slam by Lance Berkman) to give the Astros the lead and earn Roy Oswalt his 10 win of the season.  Lance Berkman went into the 7th inning with an 0-3 night(2 strike outs and a fly out) and looked like his night was going to end a bad one... but in the 7th he came up to bat with bases loaded and worked a full count from Taschner...  Taschner decided to challenge the Puma with a fastball inside... WRONG MOVE!  Berkman drove that fastball over the Crawford Boxes and drove the Astros to their 6th straight victory.

Other Notables

  • Miguel Tejada - 3-5, 1 run scored and 1 RBI.
  • Darin Erstad - 2-5, 2 runs scored and 3 RBI's.  Played RF, LF and 1B during the game.
  • Hunter Pence - 2-2, 2 runs scored and 1 RBI(after coming in as a PH in the 7th).

this is fun

winning that is. 16-8 since the all-star break. that’s the .667 WPCT we were looking for.

picking nits, but the Giants only left 11 guys on base, not 20. the LOB column in the box score double counts for everybody that recorded an out with somebody on base.
