Tejada sitting again... I don't like it.  That's 2 games in the last week.  If he's not hurt, he should be playing tonight.  Wigginton should be batting higher in the lineup.. no reason Blum should be hitting ahead of him.  I would have Wigginton hitting leadoff instead of Pence...

Anyone know the Astros record when he starts?

by Joe in Birmingham on Jul 9, 2008 6:10 PM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Astros are 27-29 in his starts.

Matsui’s OPS in losses is .465 and .898 in wins. His BA is .367 in wins and .181 in losses.

Michael Bourn Singled to center . Wigginton to third.

A hit batter , a walk, a homerun, a single and another single after the first two batters made outs.

This is where the astros pitchers have been screwing up.

Runner still on 2d base with 2 outs. Just when you think they have done a good job to get out of trouble, they give up the run.

Well, Moehler doesn’t follow that pattern. He gets the 3d out.

put a hit and run on with Michael Bourn at the plate… it just makes your runner look like a total jackass getting thrown out at 2nd..

Bourn hitting & Wiggy stealing...sounds odd....and it didn't work.

Bourn came up empty and Wiggy slid short of 2d base, flopping around like a beached whale.

Earlier this season

Astros could not score in the first 5 innings then they poured it on in the last 3 or 4.

It seems lately they score early and don’t score anymore after the fifth inning.

Wilson out at home

looked like he was probably safe, but the out call is payment for him not sliding at home.. if he woud have slid, it would have been an easy safe call.

Astros still lose lead with sac fly.

The Pirates’ pitcher must be thanking his lucky stars that he won’t get a “L” tonight.

Why bunt Bourn to second

when he can eaaily steal the base?

Astros fan for life

by Joe in Birmingham on Jul 9, 2008 8:26 PM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Because a lefty is on the mound.

Bourn hasn’t been running so easily on LHP in the last month or so. But it worked out because of the ill advised throw to 3d.

Good fortune

Mark Loretta batting for Moehler hits the ball about three feet. The catcher throws to third but Bourn beats it . . Astros have runners at the corners with one out.

Pack it in!

This season just gets worse and worse! I like most of the moves Wade made except for the fact he didn’t go after ANY starting pitchers! The reason we lose MOST of our games is that our pitching sux! And we are now paying for it! I don’t see an end in site here!

Villereal for Josh Anderson F- – -

Stupid trade! Were you just trying to hook up Atlanta for nothing?
Oscar SUX!!! Fortunately gone yet DM still has to pay his worthless butt!!!! GAY!!!!!

Josh Anderson packaged with perhaps with Lidge could have gotten us a good starting pitcher! Sad!!

Just goes to show you how one bad move leads to another and another and another!!!

Let me spell it out!!

Let Andy P go to the Yankholes!! They offered him 17M and he told the Astros he’d take 14.5 from us to stay in Htown and WE TURNED HIM DOWN OVER A ONE YEAR PLAYER OPTION!!! STUPID STUPID STUPID MOVE!!!

Ok, that’s were it all started the nose dive the Astros are on

Next bad move,
Astros FREAK OUT and trade Willy T and Jason Hirsh away to Jason(I completely suck)Jennings just for him to leave and get NOTHING back for him!!!
2 more great players gone….

So far, we’ve lost Andy P, Willy T and Jason Hirsh… 1 excellent starting lefty, a giant righty with lots of potential and OUR BELOVED WILLY T!!!

Now, we trade Lidge for Bourn in a vein attempt to replace Willy T… Bourn with twice as many K’s as Willy T, a way less BA than willy and less steals!! Bourn makes some plays in center but SO DID WILLY!!!

Where is this sick loss of great players going to end??

So we lose Pettitte, Taveras, Hirsh, and Lidge (not to mention Chad Q to replace Lidge with Valverde)

Drayton, take note here and STOP the bleeding!!!!! We’ve lost our core team and it just will get worse and worse!!! OUR TEAM SUX NOW!!!!

Even when we were winning, MOST OF THOSE WINS WERE COME FROM BEHIND!!!
Meaning OUR PITCHING STILL SUCKED!!!!!!!

You can’t ask the O to make up for the lack of good pitching all season long!! NEVER WILL HAPPEN!!!

We could have still traded Lidge, Anderson and even Hirsh in one big package for a damn good player or 2 even!!!

We’d still have Pettitte, Taveras and hopefully Chad Q!!! I miss Qualls, sux they let him go!!! and he is AWESOME in Arizona, makes it hurt even worse!!!!!

Oh well, Rockets will be playing again before we know it!!!
