Samuel Gervacio
Hey everyone, Brew Crew Ball interloper here. I noticed this note in Kevin Goldstein's recent NL Central Notebook column for Baseball Prospectus:
Weird, But It Works: Also garnering some attention on the Hooks’ roster is Dominican reliever Samuel Gervacio, who has struck out 54 in 46 innings. Gervacio’s unique mechanics almost have to be seen to be believed. He starts out with what looks like a very standard over-the-top delivery, before dropping his arm slot at the last possible moment to throw at a true sidearm angle with his arm parallel to the ground. Beyond the deception that this creates, the stuff itself is above average, with a fastball that ranges from 90-92 mph, and a tight low-80s slider with two-plane break.Has anyone seen this guy pitch? Is there video available anywhere? I'd love to see what Goldstein is describing for myself.

Spring Training
I got a brief glimpse of him during Spring Training
Same here....watched him in spring training...
and it certainly is an unusual delivery. He is the closer for the AA Corpus Christi Hooks, and he has decent stats (3.86 FIP; 3.72 ERA; 26.7% K rate). The Hooks are televised occasionally on FSN in Texas; maybe someone has or will DVR a game in the future.
I think they're supposed to be televised this Sunday evening
Could be wrong, but I believe I saw a commercial to that effect earlier this week while watching one of the games.
