This has the makings of a laugher.

I think I’ll go home to enjoy this rout (and I hope it is a rout).

Towards the beginning of the season

He and Berkman seemed the MVP favorites. Anyone else in the NL garnering serious considerations?

by mokulen on Jul 28, 2008 8:52 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Chipper Jones

Who just went on the DL
Utley is still the favorite for some reason.

Said Newhan thought he should have walked – Milo seemed to agree with the batter.

Cardinals and Pirates win

Cardinals destroy Braves 12-3.

Braves must have cratered on realizing managemnent has accepted being also-rans this year.

Hey did you all see the article posted at the Chron tonight?

They say that Wade is in trade talks with the Red Sox. Miggy is apparently on the block.

It's a Jesus Ortiz story

He has a credibility problem with me. .

One thing I found humorous in that article...

Ortiz talks about all the scouts who will be at the game, as if they all are there to see Astros’ players. In fact, Cincinnati is a bigger fish in the trade rumors than Houston will ever be. Adam Dunn and Griffey are both big names who are being shopped. Ortiz says the Nationals have a scout there and are willing to trade anybody but Zimmerman. The Nats have long been interested in Dunn (because of the Bowden, ex-Reds GM, connection). Who in the heck would the Nats want off the Astros roster?

by clack on Jul 28, 2008 10:33 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

it's probbaly nothing ...

but ESPN Deportes is reporting it, too. Can’t tell who published the story first. link

Maybe with his salary off the books, they can afford to go after a decent pitcher?

“The Red Sox have almost no interest in Miguel Tejada. “

JJO changed his tune this morning

Here’s what Jose de Jesus Ortiz wrote Tuesday morning – another reason he has no credibility with me:

“Red Sox sources are saying the Red Sox have no interest in Tejada. Here’s the story.

It wouldn’t be the first time sources gave different sides. But there’s no denying Tejada to the Red Sox would be a long shot.

A person I trust tremendously because he has never led me in the wrong direction even when the embarrassing news includes something about him assures me that it wouldn’t make much sense to waste much energy chasing the Tejada to the Red Sox story.”

How does JJO keep his job?

From a Boston Red Sox fan blog:

“Now, a few days later there’s a Houston Chronicle report of Boston having interest in Miguel Tejada, which has also been completely dismissed.

According to team and league sources the answer again is “not interested.” The Red Sox have no intention of taking on any of Tejada’s personal baggage (Mitchell Report and feds investigation).”
