The Astros are on pace for 75-87 - What do you think?

The CBs starts the season with what everyone thinks the W/L total will be and I want to do it now that we have seen a decent slice of what the team has.

I think the 75-87 is about right for what they have shown so far so I am putting my number there.

Does anyone think they will that much better or worse?

Make your predictions now and let's see who the best prognosticator is.  Or who started drinking at lunch on Firday and goes for 86-78.

Better

not much, but better… I think we’ll end up 2 games above .500

before the season I predicted

77 wins, I think, so I’ll stick with that. I think that would require us to be within a game of .500 over the 2nd half which seems like a stretch.

I'll guess 82-84 wins....

Somewhat optimistic. Approximately 56% of Astros’ games remaining after ASB are at home which should be an advantage. I think a good winning percentage at home is very possible. But the Astros would also need to hold the remaining road record to only a couple of games below .500.

I'm not as optimistic

The Astros have two road series each against the Cubs and the Brewers, also road series at Florida, Colorado, and the Mets., plus their remaining road opponents – Cincy and Pittsburgh – have excellent home records as well. They’ll do well to be 12-17 in their remaining away games. At home, they have 37 games left – if they could win 22 of those, that would make them 34-32 for the balance of the season and they’d finish 79-83. With Roy’s questionable status, plus the inconsistency of the remainder of the pitching staff, even that seems a stretch to me.

I’ll take 74 wins, and hope I’m wrong.

It takes more than pitching to win a pennant, but not much!

Entropic the optimist

Gotta love this guy. If he were falling into the lions den he would be smiling saying “It is ok. I haven’t hit the bottom yet.”

My friends suggested I see someone about my baseball problem. So I made an appointment but just ended up helping the doctor with his fantasy team.

As more of a pessimist than an optimist

I appreciate Entropic’s attitude – makes me feel better about the possibilities.
