Berkman and Lidge

sitting on the ground together watching the rest of the first round.

Rick Reilly earlier

complaining about the races of the contestants. what a tool.

just off the top of my head, I can think of two prominent minority ballplayers who refused (ARod and Vlad). he’s just trying to justify his new espn paycheck.

Hamilton=Beast

I want that guy pitching BP pitching to Berkman

..agonizing since 1983...

by rockwalltx on Jul 14, 2008 8:34 PM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

this guy may go on for another hour

it’s good they get to carry HR totals over to 2nd round.

Winners and Losers (Round 1)

Josh Hamilton
Lance Berkman: 8 (longest)
Justin Morneau: 8
Ryan Braun: 7

Dan Uggla: 6
Grady Sizemore: 6
Chase Utley: 5
Evan Longoria: 3

Hamilton just blew everyone away and has a very good chance to be a finalist.

It’s going to be between Berkman, Braun and Morneau for the last spot.

by entropic soul on Jul 14, 2008 8:36 PM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Oops.

Meant to post that after Hamilton was done. Oh well. He’s first anyway. :p

I picked Berkman and Hamilton in the finals

Those picks looking good now. I wonder if Hamilton will be toast by the final round.

tripled up the competition

if he was smart, he’d just sit out the 2nd round

by lnewcomer on Jul 14, 2008 8:45 PM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

The next three guys

have 23 homeruns total.

Hamilton has 25 and coming.

28. Finished. Finally.

May as sit out of round two….

by entropic soul on Jul 14, 2008 8:49 PM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

that was awesome

i’m glad I got to see that. prob the highlight of the AS break

by lnewcomer on Jul 14, 2008 8:51 PM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I bet everyone is glad

he went last and no one had to follow him.

by mokulen on Jul 14, 2008 8:52 PM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

the rest of the contest feels like an anticlimax

although, there exists the theoretical possibility he could lose

by lnewcomer on Jul 14, 2008 8:58 PM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Puma looks tired

he’s actually doing better than in the first round so far

by lnewcomer on Jul 14, 2008 8:59 PM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

he's heating up

only one of the three guys is going to advance, so Lance’s chances don’t look so good right now.

by lnewcomer on Jul 14, 2008 9:05 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Hamilton is a freak of nature

lance is tied right now w/ morneau in the 2nd round to be the other person that advances, but Morneau has 3 more outs left.

2 others left to bat in 2nd round.

by lnewcomer on Jul 14, 2008 9:06 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Big Puma is eliminated

Morneau adds 15 & 16 to go ahead of him

by lnewcomer on Jul 14, 2008 9:07 PM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Did I just hear them say

Hamilton hit 28 in the 1st round?

Go 'Stros!

by Stros Bro on Jul 14, 2008 9:07 PM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Yea, I worked until 8

So I just got home..

That’s amazing.. Teh Puma picked Hamilton to win

yep

it was incredible. multiple 500+ shots to deep right-center and center

by lnewcomer on Jul 14, 2008 9:09 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I think the record ever was 27 by Tejada

And Hamilton outdid that in 1 round??? Pretty impressive stuff

one of them can't keep it straight

keeps mentioning cocaine. i don’t know myself, but does it really matter?

by lnewcomer on Jul 14, 2008 9:18 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

It was cocaine addiction

just researched it. (but i don’t know the difference either)

X-Files movie!

I love the series. I wonder if the new movie will hold up.

I'm definitely going to see it

it’s supposed to be more in the “monster of the week” vein, rather than the conspiracy angle. But I don’t know if they can recapture the magic.

supposedly if it does well at the box office, Carter, Duchovny and Anderson are on board for at least one more movie.

by lnewcomer on Jul 14, 2008 9:31 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

stupid promotion

I’m sure these guys don’t want to be wasting HR on this

by lnewcomer on Jul 14, 2008 9:32 PM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

this thing started at 7pm our time

i know they haven’t been hitting the whole time, but it’s dragged on for quite a while. of couse, it seems like hamilton hit for about an hour in the first round.

by lnewcomer on Jul 14, 2008 9:34 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Only hit 4

but stopped after 4 outs

Go 'Stros!

by Stros Bro on Jul 14, 2008 9:35 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

he was already guaranteed to advance

so he went out and hit a few, but it didn’t look like he was taking full cuts. stopped after 5 outs i think.

by lnewcomer on Jul 14, 2008 9:35 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

will he get booed if he doesn't win it?

and will Morneau have the most meaningless win in HR Derby history?

MORNEAU

Morneau

Winning is like a team going into the 9th inning with a 20-0 lead and then having to forfeit because they can’t field enough players…
