Rally fizzles...
With a 2-0 count, Tejada was swinging away and flew out to RF. Blum followed with a fly out to RF.
Blum playing third today
I feel comfortable with that even though I’ve clammored for Ty Wigginton lately.

Pence says he will spend the ASB trying to figure out how to hit breaking pitches.
Deshais makes a very good point: Perhaps he should be trying to figure out how to lay off
breaking pitches instead of trying to hit them.
How often does Pence get a game off?
When was his last game off?

for 3d consecutive inning...
Wandy has allowed lead off hits. He isn’t pitching that badly, but lead off hits spell trouble.
Huntre Pence homers
Long time no see

Erstad gets on via an error, but he earned that base with his hustle.
Matsui doubles and Erstad goes to 3d. Matsui with his 3d straight multi-hit game.
First baseman forgot to tag Carlos Lee
H Egave up the easy double play . Astros still alive

Superb defensive play by Blum.
No way can I see Wigginton doing that. Blum ranged wide toward the shortstop position, caught the ball near the 2d/3d base path and threw out the hitter on the run.
Hunter Pence has two key hits tonight
That’s a good sign,. Also, Matsui has two hits and scored two runs. That’s good too.

Erstad showed a little football move, trying to evade the tag going to 2d...
and it delayed things enough that a tailor made DP didn’t get but one out. Erstad was a punter at Nebraska.
Just got in
After listening to the game, Wandy was having an easy time… in the time it took me to get home, change clothes and get to the computer, game is 6-3 with bases juiced in the 6th and Wandy is leaving the game.. DAMNIT!
Go 'Stros!
Belliard, and his Ted Williams like hitting, loads the bases.
Wandy seemed to let some bad ball/strike calls get under his skin and the ump didn’t like his reaction either. That is a problem many times for Wandy.
Sampson double play
Forces a ground back to himself, throws to Ausmus who then goes to 1st to end the inning..
Go 'Stros!
Chris thinks he can get back into the rotation if he inflates Wandy's ERA!
As I say that jokingly, Sampson gets a great grounder back to him which he turns into a DP.
And we he does, he gets an out.
Should have let it go… :p

Kerry Wood out of the All Star game
Since I did not think he would be effective, I am somewhat relieved.

Carlos Lee has the MOST RBIs in NL for outfielders
Ahead of Ryan Braun by 6 before today… And he’s not on the All Star team. :/
He is fourth in home runs and doubles and he’s not on the All Star team. :/
His OPS is about .900 and he’s not on the All Star team.
He’s 29th in strike outs (amoung 33 qualifiers) and he’s not on the All Star team. :/
