Followed up by our .220 hitters.

Bourn .220
Ausmus .221
Oswalt .222

Oswalt is the best. He should bat after Wiggy. :p

holy cow – this ain’t good!

Did he pitch yet? Did I miss that?

Otherwise, even if Oswalt is injured and not coming back, why not use a pinch hitter?

by clack on Jul 11, 2008 7:02 PM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

guess the shot didn't help

Roy said the only cure for it was to get younger… so if the cortizone didn’t help, I guess he’ll retire now

He said that alright

But I have a lesser version of that. It heals and you must stretch everything from your feet to your legs to your hips befoer an work to prevent it from inflaming. One it’s inflamed, you have to wait it out. It could be hours or weeks. The key is to keep it from being inflamed in the first placed. To late for that now with Roy O.

maybe "torched" was premature....

but Paronto gave up that run on two very well hit doubles to the wall. And some other hitters were getting good swings off him. But he finally gets out of the inning without more damage.

by clack on Jul 11, 2008 7:38 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Torched was right

he has little movement and is not hitting the corners.

by UT2001 on Jul 11, 2008 7:39 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Yep

just because he’s “only” given up 3 runs, doesn’t mean he’s not getting torched… everyone is hitting the ball hard

Gah

sent Roy O, James Shields and Joba today for my fantasy team, hoping to make up a 2-1 win deficit and ERA and WHIP deficits in my head-to-head leagues. Roy’s gone out, Joba’s facing Halladay and Shields is getting torched (sorta).

Berkman struck out

for the second time tonight.

Luckily for the Astros , Tim Redding’s pitch count is getting high. He’s not gotten a decision in weeks. Apparently he keeps the score close then the bullpen blows the lead. To his credit, Tim Redding has come a long way since his Astros days.

One of the Nationals Commentators

joked (I think he was joking ) was that Cecil Cooper’s plan to rest his relievers is not to have to use one to pitch the ninth inning.

that intentional walk to load the bases turned out badly.

I assume, with the bases loaded, Bork would be trying to get a DP with his sinker. But his fastballs were UP, which isn’t going to get it done.

In retrospect, the Astros should have put Oswalt on the DL...

earlier in the week, and called up Cassel for this game. Cassel pitched a 2 hitter this week for Round Rock.

by clack on Jul 11, 2008 8:55 PM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I read somewhere Cooper doesn't like Cassel

It sounded personal. What;’s the story there?

I have seen that suggested on other boards, too..

If I recall, Cassel indicated after a game that he didn’t agree with Cooper’s decision to pull him in the 5th when he was ahead in the game, and Cassel was gone to Round Rock almost immediately. I think people wondered if Cooper was unhappy with what he said, and then the fact that he seems to have been forgotten at Round Rock adds to the questions.

to the Nationals…

Things sure look and feel bad....but just to put it in context....

this game was lost when Oswalt left after 1 inning. It’s tough for any team to win when their starter leaves before the 2d inning, particularly when the opposing pitcher is tossing a shut out.

by clack on Jul 11, 2008 9:27 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Honestly, I can't use that as an excuse

if we were a good team, losing even your best pitcher in the 1st inning, you should still at least have a chance to win the game… just goes to show that we’re not a good team. The Nationals are the worst team in baseball and they just made us look silly…
