1-1 after 2 innings
Dodgers scrap out a run in the top of the first.
Lance Berkman tied it in the bottom half with a homerun.

Great Slide by Berkman
Lance wlaked. Carlos Lee hit a bloop single (credited as a double) to center .The ball bounced away from the centerfielder,. Lance kept running to third. He slid on the far outside of the base, barely eluding the tag.

Tejada gets on base!
Intentionally walked. :p
He prolly would have driven in a run since he would have likely grounded out and Berkman was on third. (Lee on second)
Loretta with bases loaded.
Mark Loretta singles .

dodgers threaten
first and third, nobody out
two sharply hit balls that might have been fielded for outs by better defensive players at LF and SS?
Strike Out; Strike Out; Lazy Fly to Bourn
Way to pitch out of that mess, Roy

CLee is making the CF work tonight
last time he had to come in for the sinking liner that managed to get down. Similar play on a broken bat fly, this time, but it hung up longer. I think the CF was initially fooled by the swing and took a step back, but managed to recover.
Oswalt allows 2 to reach with one out
and then proceeds to humiliate the next two batters. 9 K’s thru 6.
Isn't Roy Oswalt
a better hitter than Brad Ausmus?

Oswalt out of the game
Looks like an injury of some sort

Roy Leaves w/ an unspecified injury
went out to the mound to warmup, and then something happened and Coop and the trainers came out.
Roy’s leaving the game.
yeah, that's what occurred to me as well.
no more communication problems.
oswalt didn’t really look like he was objecting.
Sampson in to warmup
really warming up. taking long toss w/ the catcher from behind the mound. this could be a while.
Lance w/ a funny LBJ reference during the downtime
video from the clubhouse when he was told before the game about some kid that supposedly punched 27000 ballots for lance.
Needless to say I hope Roy's OK and it sucks that he's out
it really sucks because he was so good tonight. You’d like to see him push a start like tonight to see how far he could go. Still, safety first.
Carlos Lee admonishes Bourn to run hard
at least, most of the time.
Cooper chalked it up to Bourn’s lack of experience and said he did not even have to say anything to his center fielder. Left fielder Carlos Lee took care of that.
“Lee said, ‘You don’t want to do that all the time,’” Bourn said. “That’s the kind of team we have. When you have a good team, the team polices itself. The veterans come to you.”
Look in the mirror Carlos

Astros Weird Celebration stuff
http://blogs.chron.com/baseballblog/archives/2008/06/astros_fans_del.html
From Ortiz:
Some of you have noticed that the Astros tend to give each other imaginary high fives at times. The gesture looks similar to the hand sign Baylor Bears make, although the fingers are extended more dramatically and the right arm is held high while swaying back and forth.
It took a while, but most of the players now realize that they’re shining imaginary spotlights on each other as a way to praise great plays. Some, including Hunter Pence, however, thought it was just a long distance high five until I started asking about it.
It may sound silly to outsiders, but the gesture is a way for the Astros to bond and support each other.
Sampson gives up a leadoff single, but then a DP ball
Loretta made a nice turn right before getting dumped by the runner coming into 2nd.
single off the pitcher's glove, followed by a liner to right
Pence dove, got a glove on it, but dropped it. runners at 1st and 3rd w/ 2 out. Marlo comes in for Sampson.
Gets out of the inning
with a deep fly to Carlos. :)

Valverde not the most graceful of athletes
Trainer out to look at hand, whether from being hit by ball or catching himself after he fell.
Almost needed a helmut there

I guess helmets might help in some circumstances
although I don’t know what they’d do about hits to the face, like Valverde and Chris Young took earlier this year.
Depends on how the helmut is made

Valverde gets called on a balk
for not stopping in his stretch. Instead of a K on the batter, it’s 2-2, 1 out and a man on 2nd.
JD says it was a bad call and I agree. On the replay it looked like he actually did stop, but it was v. quick.
Valverde got called for that at the game I went to v. the Yankees.

what ??? A balk on a strikeout pitch?
so it’s not a strikeout pitch; and the runner goes to second.
