Power Rangers

FSN describing some of the Rangers best hitters. lol

Rangers Pitching is worse than Astros Pitching

Rangers Hitting is better than Astros Hitting

Ingredients for a high scoring series.

I don't have any AL favorites ...

So when filling out All-star ballots, I’ve ended up with as many as 4 freakin’ Rangers on my ballot . I think the last ones, I’ve just gone with the safe choice at ss, but that still left me with 3 Rangers …

by mokulen on Jun 24, 2008 7:04 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I put Jeter at ss

in my last ballots. I felt really guilty about that … :( Not a lot to choose from … Maybe if I fill out any more I’ll go back to Young. He certainly likes to hit against the Astros

Lead off double for the Rangers

That was nearly a home run….

I imagine that run will score.

Orioles & Cubs on WGN

Surprisingly Luke is starting. He’s hitting around .200 against lefties.

Bourn had a good AB

7 or 8 pitches and worked a walk

by lnewcomer on Jun 24, 2008 7:46 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Michael Bourn leaves batter's box too quickly onwalks.

He is going to irritate a few umpires if he’s not careful.

The Unofficial Scorer over at the Chron

has the Astros at 14 successes out of their last 28 attempts in stolen bases. I think for the season we’re at barely over 70%, but that number has been dropping.

Since it seems unlikely that all our guys were lucky early and are not lately, this seems like more of a coaching/scouting problem. Coop has rescinded the green light for all but three players, but we have some work to do.

wonder if Hamilton was hurt on that dive

on Loretta’s double? when he was leaving the field after that inning he took off his glove and seemed to be shaking his glove hand.

Byrd may have foul-tipped that last pitch

Q didn’t hang on, but we got the out call anyway. It was really hard to tell, but the ump didn’t hesitate. Byrd seemed to think he got a piece of it though, or at least acted like he did.

not that I remember

in that disastrous Wandy game vs. the cardinals a couple weeks ago the 3B coach held him up at 3rd on an Erstad double where he would almost certainly have scored the tying run.

valverde making it exciting

Vazquez goes yard after a walk. 4-3 lead stros. 1 out, nobody on.

by lnewcomer on Jun 24, 2008 9:52 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Didn't look like that bad a pitch.

What’s up with this vazquez guy? What did the Astros ever do to him to make him mad? He is a mediocre utility player who hits Houston pitching like he is Babe Ruth. He hits the Astros for over a .400 average in his career, and he has 4 HRs in just a handful of at bats.

Game over - Astros win

Valverde must have forgotten the 2 run home run he gave up, because he’s trying to act like a badass behind the mound.

Well

The problem is, as with Lidge, blowing saves is usually not far behind an ever-rising ERA. These things don’t happen in a vacuum, after all.

he would do it throughout the inning. It seems like Valverde at least seems to save it for after he gets the final out.

also, Valverde can actually pitch a little.

40k and change at the game

pretty good atmosphere for a Tuesday night.

watched sportscenter after i got home, and the guy doing the highlight said some things that were just flat out wrong (said Astros had dropped 5 straight and that Hamilton was PH for by Boggs)... just sloppy. posting on a blog that ESPN sucks is like saying the sky is blue, but biases are one thing, gross errors in reporting are another. also, during the D-Backs/BoSox highlight, they referred to Qualls as a former Round Rock Express star. that also annoyed me. RR was the AA team when he played for them, and frankly, he wasn’t that good. just a weak jab at a pretty good pitcher.

anyway, good win last night. pitching matchups should be favorable the rest of the series (assuming we get good Roy and home Wandy). go Astros!
