Brian Moehler
Moehler has pitched much more effectively this season than I ever expected. Last year I grimaced every time he entered the game. I was surprised he made the team this year. My jaw dropped when I heard he was to start a game.
But has had several very good starts this year. What happened?. Was he misused (Or underused) in 2007. ( was this a Phil Garner bad decision about Moehler?) Is Moehler just a better starter than reliever? Is Moehler different physically than he was in 2007?

Moehler blames his performance last year....
on being rusty due to long periods between pitching. But that is sort of the life of a long reliever. He was better in the second half when the Astros used him more because they needed a long reliever more. Moehler is very dependentt on his defense. I think he is a good gritty veteran pitcher who is willing to do whatever the team wants. But I don’t think he is inherently as good a pitcher as he seemed to be tonight. He has benefitted from some good games in pitcher’s parks, llike Dodger stadium. He is risky at MMP.
I may have spoke too soon
As I typed the above box, Moehler gave up a double, a wild pitch, and a walk along with two outs. Men at the corners with two outs.

Last year I had Guthre on my fantasy team...
and he is pretty good (nice Orioles’ rotation last year with Bedard and Guthrie). He is like John Maine, not spectacular but effective. If I’m not mistaken he was part of the Maine trade to the Mets.
LANCE BERKMAN 1-0
