terrible strategy, partticularly with Joba....

Chamberlin’s main problem as a starter has been throwing too many pitches and therefore not staying in games long enough.

Tejada

1 pitch, 1 out.

Joba is like an sniper or something.

Chacon's 1st strike out

was on Chamberlain’s 1st career AB

Chacon has been pretty good lately

except for 1 big inning per game… hopefully the 1st was his big inning :)

My wife hates Derek Jeter

She thinks he is worse than Barry Bonds… I disagree

Go 'Stros!

by Stros Bro on Jun 13, 2008 7:40 PM CDT reply actions

She thinks he is a cocky bastard

And for some reason doesn’t think Bonds is that cocky…

But take that with a grain of salt

If she watched the game tonight, she’d be wondering why Ensberg isn’t playing 3rd base..

Speaking of Ensberg

He’s without a team.. released by the Yankees..

I agree with her

about Jeter being a cocky bastard, although I agree with you that Bonds is worse. Mostly I think Jeter is overrated (despite his later HR in this game), especially defensively. And I despise Ryan Braun for the same reasons—he reminds me a lot of Jeter, the way he comports himself.

Pretty good outing for Chacon

glad to see it.

6 1/3 inning with 1 run earned against… unfortunately he is leaving 2 runners on. Hopefully (Wright, I think) can keep them from scoring.

When the offense scores 6, the pitchers suck...

and when we get a good start from Chacon, the offense sucks.

Wiggy, Bourn, Ausmus and whatever bench guy we have (Loretta?) against the most dominating closer in the league.

1 run? Seriously? From the team that has Tejada, Berkman and Lee on it’s roster?

Reminds me

of last year’s interleague play, where we went to Anaheim and could’ve swept the Angels, but lost two because we did all the simple things wrong.

Sunday.

Should be a great matchup.

Here’s to hoping we can score something off Moose.

Witth 1 outt, down by 1, in the 9tth, the mostt precious things to conserve

are outs and base runners, and Cooper gives them botth up on one high risk play.

by clack on Jun 13, 2008 10:12 PM CDT reply actions

Rotoworld's take on the 9th inning:

“With Mariano Rivera needing a day off, Kyle Farnsworth got a save chance in a 2-1 game against the Astros on Friday and pitched a scoreless ninth.
They just don’t get any more reliable. Farnsworth hit Ty Wigginton to start the inning, but that didn’t stop the Astros from having Michael Bourn try to bunt. A popup followed, and the only reason it wasn’t a double play - Bourn made no attempt to run out of the box - was that Farnsworth was too dense to drop the ball. After that, Wigginton, a noted speed demon who swiped seven bases just four years ago, was thrown out trying to steal second. Reggie Abercrombie, who is in MLB only because of his legs, remained in the dugout throughout. Geoff Blum then fanned to end the game. It was Farnsworth’s first save since 2006 and the 52nd time Cecil Cooper was outmanaged this season. “

by clack on Jun 14, 2008 8:32 AM CDT reply actions

FWIW

Abercrombie isn’t onlyl in the MLB because of his legs… he’s only in the MLB because Jose Cruz Jr was terrible and the Astros really have no better options… as pathetic as that sounds

Go 'Stros!

by Stros Bro on Jun 17, 2008 7:17 PM CDT up reply actions

Frustrating

That was a painful way to end the game. Why the hell was Wiggy still in there – and attempting to steal? And that pop-out bunt was preceded by some weak attempts at laying down the bunt by Bourn.

At least the fireworks show was good afterwards.

hmmm... football...
