yeah, the sound is off for me too. This is unacceptable!!!
Pence was the right-handed Ted Williams in 2007.

Bourn steals 2nd
Throw was actually in time and a decent throw, but it short hopped the 2nd basemen and went over his glove…

The Difference Between Bourn and Towles
(as Bourn flies out, dropping his average to .193)
it’s not surprising that our rookie catcher outslugs our leadoff hitter. But when he’s out OBPing him, that’s a problem.
Even with his three homers Bourn has 35 total bases—with 29 strikeouts.
Towles strikeout rate though not as high as Bourn’s is still high at 21%—but he has nearly twice as many TBs as K’s.
Do what you want with Bourn, but anyone bailing out on Towles should realize that right now, he has a higher OPS than Ryan Zimmerman.
Let's talk about something other than Tejada

I would move Bourrn to the 8 or 9 slot...
(9, if Cooper goes LaRussa on us) and then try Towles in the 2 slot, with Matsui leading off. Bourn’s OBP is terrible in the lead off slot, and it might help him to have less pressure.

Tejada singles and Berkman gets a cheap infield hit, which seems to
amuse him. Both move up on a long flyball close to Tal’s Hill by Lee.

Backe with 9 Ks now...a career high.
His curve and slider are the main swing and miss pitches.

Nats score 2, still with no outs
Bases loaded with no outs, and Kearns hits a bouncer up the middle.

Backe's single was expensive
if, as Brownie and JD say, Backe was tired from running the basepaths and thus less effective in the 6th.

Nice play by Tejada....
it kept any more runs frrom scoring. With 2 out and 2 runners on base, the hard grounder appeared to be past Tejada, but he grabbed it with his back to the infield and twirled, throwing tto Matsui at 2d.

Pence's DP was very, very costly with 2 runners on base.
Then Wiggy with a weak grounder.

That was wild.
Byrdak with 2 out and runner on 2d. JD and Brownie were joking that Byrdak would try to throw aa pitch to get a line drive DP. Then, it happens….line drive to Byrdak knocked him over but he had the presence of mind to throw to 2d.

WEBGEM
Line drive to Byrdak, who catches the ball and falls down backwards; then from his knees or sitting position (i forget) he throws to Matusi at second for a double play!

Villarreal is tough to watch pitch.
I think I’ve said this before. Villareal is slow as mollasses and he throws lots of balls.
Now Villareal gives up a Crawford Box shot to Macwak. 7-1 Nats. That about does it.

Making the bullpen look bad just when they were starting to look good, buddy. I suppose Valverde and Brocail need a day off anyway.

Pinch hit for Towles with Cruz? Even though both of their batting avgs are miniscule, Towles probably has more pop in his bat…
Oh well, still got an inning to go.

Bottom of the ninth
We need at least 5 runs before we get 3 outs. Probability is miniscule, but it still seems somehow possible.
