Bourn's last stolen base 4/21
or so they show on the TV.. probably last time he reached base…
Go 'Stros!
Bourn steals 2nd
Throw was actually in time and a decent throw, but it short hopped the 2nd basemen and went over his glove…
Go 'Stros!
FSN sucking today...
anyone watching in HD? It messed up there to?
Anyone watching period?
Go 'Stros!
I'm about not to be
If the sound doesn’t come back fast.. I’m probably gonna go watch a movie or something
Go 'Stros!
Finally
It appears FSN has fixed the sound problems. Thank God!
Pence was the right-handed Ted Williams in 2007.
The Difference Between Bourn and Towles
(as Bourn flies out, dropping his average to .193)
it’s not surprising that our rookie catcher outslugs our leadoff hitter. But when he’s out OBPing him, that’s a problem.
Even with his three homers Bourn has 35 total bases—with 29 strikeouts.
Towles strikeout rate though not as high as Bourn’s is still high at 21%—but he has nearly twice as many TBs as K’s.
Do what you want with Bourn, but anyone bailing out on Towles should realize that right now, he has a higher OPS than Ryan Zimmerman.
Let's talk about something other than Tejada
I would move Bourrn to the 8 or 9 slot...
(9, if Cooper goes LaRussa on us) and then try Towles in the 2 slot, with Matsui leading off. Bourn’s OBP is terrible in the lead off slot, and it might help him to have less pressure.
Tejada singles and Berkman gets a cheap infield hit, which seems to
amuse him. Both move up on a long flyball close to Tal’s Hill by Lee.
Nats score 2, still with no outs
Bases loaded with no outs, and Kearns hits a bouncer up the middle.
Backe's single was expensive
if, as Brownie and JD say, Backe was tired from running the basepaths and thus less effective in the 6th.
It takes more than pitching to win a pennant, but not much!
But it's a dry heat
Seriously, humidity is down around 35% out here in the ‘burbs.

Nice play by Tejada....
it kept any more runs frrom scoring. With 2 out and 2 runners on base, the hard grounder appeared to be past Tejada, but he grabbed it with his back to the infield and twirled, throwing tto Matsui at 2d.
Great play by Byrdak!
Super fast reflexes!
It takes more than pitching to win a pennant, but not much!
That was wild.
Byrdak with 2 out and runner on 2d. JD and Brownie were joking that Byrdak would try to throw aa pitch to get a line drive DP. Then, it happens….line drive to Byrdak knocked him over but he had the presence of mind to throw to 2d.
WEBGEM
Line drive to Byrdak, who catches the ball and falls down backwards; then from his knees or sitting position (i forget) he throws to Matusi at second for a double play!

I think GameCast is broken...
it says Bourn with single to right ;-)
Come on Stros, Rally time!
SeoulStro
Biggio and Bagwell for the HOF!
Villarreal is tough to watch pitch.
I think I’ve said this before. Villareal is slow as mollasses and he throws lots of balls.
Now Villareal gives up a Crawford Box shot to Macwak. 7-1 Nats. That about does it.
Well.. can't win them all, I suppose.
Let’s start another winning streak tomorrow. :p

Yep...
things went to hell in a handbasket in a hurry….not looking good. Not to mention we got a West Coast trip (where the Stros have not done well over the past couple of years).
Anyway, Let’s go Astros!

Villareal
Making the bullpen look bad just when they were starting to look good, buddy. I suppose Valverde and Brocail need a day off anyway.
Doesn't look good tonight
But two more innings at-bats. Could happen

The way they've played lately
it’s too early to give up!

Need the 6-7-8 spots to come through here

This team will no go quietly into the night...
I LOVE it…make them earn their victories if they are going to get them.
Rally time…Come Hunter!
Biggio and Bagwell for the HOF!

Belliard make a great play…I’m guessing from your reaction.
Go Stros!
Biggio and Bagwell for the HOF!
Bottom of 8th is over
How far ahead of you guys are we here in Houston?
It takes more than pitching to win a pennant, but not much!
I don't get it...
Pinch hit for Towles with Cruz? Even though both of their batting avgs are miniscule, Towles probably has more pop in his bat…
Oh well, still got an inning to go.
Biggio and Bagwell for the HOF!
I wonder if they are considering
some kind of demotion for Cruz. He has not done much during the regular season so far.

Bottom of the ninth
We need at least 5 runs before we get 3 outs. Probability is miniscule, but it still seems somehow possible.

We now need 5 runs
before we get 2 more outs. Seeming less possible….

Oops! 2 gone now
Safe to head for the exits, I think.

It's over
Matsui down on the first pitch.
Save the brooms for another day.
