The TV listing in the newspaper....
had the game starting at 7 pm. So I tuned in late. It’s going to the 3d, no score.
Wigginton doubles for Astros first hit
Third inning.
Ausmus and Moehler ground out

Wiggy scores!
Erstad hits a blooper to Center and Wiggy runs from second,. Wigginton is earning my respect the past few weeks.

I don't like the steal attempt...
with Berkman at bat. It’s not like Berkman is only capable of hitting sac flies.
yup
i’m totally pissed at that steal attempt. Left handed hitter and to top it off you have Berkman and Carlos Lee coming up… Thats about as bone headed a play as you could make in that situation.
If a woman has to choose between catching a fly ball and saving an infant's life, she will choose to save the infant's life without even considering if there are men on base. ~Dave Barry
Plus the top three..
have been sucking at getting on base lately. Berkman hasn’t had very many RBIs lately.

Ok...
Coop is officially overdoing it with the aggressiveness on the base paths.
Now Moehler leads off the 6th. Great.
what's with all the running?
do we really have that little faith in the hitters? Wiggy wasn’t even close.
now we’ve got to lead off the next inning with the pitcher.
at least Moehler’s looking really good so far. he’s successfully living on the corners so far. hopefully he can keep it up for 2-3 more innings.
any chance
it was a hit and run signal that Brad missed?

i can see
trying to stay out of the double play with the pitcher coming up, but at CS and a K do the same thing.

I thought about the hit and run...
but it seems unlikely with 2 strikes, and Brad didn’t act like he needed to protect the plate.
I didn't mind the Erstad steal attempt...OK situation for it.
And frankly Kendall was a little lucky on that throw. But the steal of 3d and Wiggy running like he is Bourn…..I don’t understand.
big strikeout!
Moehler’s looking really good so far.

oops
i’ll shut up. that was a pretty decent curveball on the outside half and down that Braun pull to left.

!!!
Tie game.
How the hell can this Astros offense expect Moehler to win a game by backing him with 1 run?
Yeah, Sheets is good, but if they would stop GIVING OUTS AWAY maybe we can have 2 or 3 runs.
crap
bit of a mistake pitch and suddenly we’re down two. would like that run that Matsui should have scored earlier, had he not gotten caught stealing third.
That HR hurts a LOT.
With a lead, Sheets is likely to stay in the game for 7 or 8 innings. The Astros’ best chance is to get into the Brewers’ middle relief.
Entropic, I plan to write another article about theh Astros' defense next week.
Berkman is really impressive this year in the field.
4-1 Brewers
It would now take the Astros current offense 36 innings to tie the game.

So sick
of how shitty this offense has been this last week.
Except Berkman and Pence… and arguably Wigginton.
Everyone else = shitty.
we were spoiled for a good stretch in May
but this is reminiscent of our early season woes. like JD was saying, when we’re pretty much an all-offense team, we’re just going to have to live with the fact that they’re just not always going to be on fire.
maybe we can get one of those late game rallies we got so used to.

Tejada has been cooling off lately...
and that has a noticeable impact. Tejada swings at more crap than most any guy on the team. When he is hot, you marvel at how he can hit a ball up at eye level. But when he has a slow streak, it’s not so pretty.
he hit three balls hard yesterday
they were just all right at somebody.

But he was swinging at crap.
My point is when he’s hot, that looks fantastic (he is immensely talented at making contact), but when he isn’t as lucky, I start wishing he would be more patient. He has something like 6 walks all year.
It only takes a small rally to tie the game
Yet, this offense, at its current rate, is not even capable of it.
2nd time...
in recent games that Valverde has to come in in the 8th (in an away game) just to get some work in.
If we get lucky, maybe Sheets will pitch for us next year.
And not get hurt. :)

He's from Louisiana
And went to college where I live.
Don’t know if he still lives in Louisiana, but he’d be close to home if he does. :)

As winning Brewers leave the field...
Sheets is still yelling at Yost. At the end, he finally smiles.
Astros have lost 5 of 6
and 4 in a row.
Bad time to be a slump.

As I said a few days ago....
the astros will be in good shape, if they can stay in contention over the next month….because the schedule will turn around after that and become more favorable. However, that is a big “IF” because the Astros have a difficult road trip as well as some tough games next month (like the Red Sox and Yankees). I agree with Joe that it is a bad time for a slump.
