There was a lot of talk in the offseason about how the NL Central is one of the weakest divisions (if not THE weakest division) in all of baseball. Well, we're about one third through season and the NL Central is proving everyone wrong with the help of the Astros, Cubs and Cardinals.
Here are the six divisions and their records against non-division teams as well overall records. Team with the best record against non-division teams is listed at top all the way down to the worst, at the bottom.
| Division | Win % vs. Other Div. | W-L vs. Other Div. | Win % OVerall | W-L Overall |
| AL East | .568 | 83-63 | .538 | 142-122 |
| NL Central | .554 | 92-74 | .524 | 164-149 |
| NL East | .529 | 74-66 | .515 | 134-126 |
| AL West | .504 | 71-70 | .502 | 107-106 |
| AL Central | .442 | 68-86 | .465 | 120-138 |
| NL West | .410 | 59-85 | .450 | 117-143 |
Only three divisions have multiple teams with 30 or more wins:
NL Central: 3 (Astros, Cubs, Cardinals)
AL East: 2 (Rays, Red Sox)
NL East: 2 (Phillies, Marlins)
Only two divisions have NO 30+ loss teams: AL East and NL Central
Amusing note: The AL East seems to be the strongest division so far, but it's no thanks to the Yankees. :)
