Borkowski DFA'd
We all saw it coming and so did Dave. I know I'm one of many who have called for his head for his various poor performances, but it's always sad when someone loses his job like this. Of course, we all know, it had to be done and I totally agree with the move. He just hasn't been very good this year. Best of luck to him.
Borkowski designated for assignment
While he's not techincally out of the organization, here's Borkowski's numbers while he was with the Astros.
| Year | W | L | ERA | IP | WHIP | AVG | K/BB |
| 2006 | 3 | 2 | 4.69 | 71.0 | 1.31 | .257 | 2.26 |
| 2007 | 5 | 3 | 5.15 | 71.2 | 1.53 | .273 | 4.27 |
| 2008 | 0 | 2 | 6.86 | 21.0 | 1.86 | .367 | 2.57 |
To tell the truth, I've never thought he was very good. Now that he's been DFA'd, I can't say I really see another team picking him up. I guess we'll see.

If he'd been Super Dave
he’d still be here. Too bad it didn’t work out, he was so good two years ago. Maybe he can get his groove back, but the trend above doesn’t inspire confidence.
75% of the Earth's surface is covered by water. . . the other 25% by Michael Bourn
His numbers above may be slightly misleading
this could spark a philosophical discussion about what is and isn’t relevant, but his ERA jumped from 4.50 to 6.86 and his WHIP jumped from 1.65 to 1.86 all in his last appearance when he got rocked. take the previous crappy appearance against the Cubs away and his ERA and WHIP were 3.98 and 1.55. that’s not to say the above numbers aren’t indicative of who he truly is, but i’m just saying that he still may be capable of stretches of non-gas tank appearances. i have fond memories of a 14 inning game against the Dodgers a couple of years ago where he came in and pitched 3-4 innings of lights out ball. i don’t think it’s as much the numbers that are damning (at least they weren’t until this past weekend), but that he hasn’t been able to come in during anything remotely high pressure and actually pitch well.
we’ll see. i’m not eager to see him back in an Astro uni, but by all accounts he’s a good guy, so i wish him luck. if nothing else, he sure loved dogs. that’s good, right?

I wouldn't be shocked to see Borkowski back with the Astros sometime this season.
I doubt that he will be claimed/signed by another team. Borkowski said that he is willing to return to Round Rock if nobody picks him up for a major league assignment. With regular relief assignments, it is possible that Borkowski will figure things out and be a call up later in the summer if injuries occur.
