Audio difficulties?

Is this the case for everyone? It’s 2008, not 1967. There is no excuse for this crap.

Not that I hear

If you are talking about the radio.

by entropic soul on May 25, 2008 1:17 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

happens almost every 'my 20" broadcast of the game.

But audio came on about the end of the top of the 1st.

Rollins is first.

And he strikes out. Woot!
Sampson on pace for a perfect game!

Baseball Irony

Bourns hits a screamer that’s caught fr an out. Berkman bloops to right and the right fielder seems to lose it in the sky; the bal drops in for a single

Carlos Lee knocks out umpire

A full swing comes around and the bat hits the umpire on top of the head

Ouch

Looks like he will be replaced.

Umpire leaves the field

with towel (probably with ice) on his head. Someone else will umpire home for the rest of the game; and it looks like a 3-man crew for the rest of the game

Cardinals won 4-0 last night if anyone didn't see.

Cubs and Cards tied for first now. Astros 1 game back.

Predication:

Carlos Lee will strike out on the first pitch thrown. :p

I LIKE THAT BETTER!!!!

Just joined Crawfish Boxes when I realized I was flipping between the ‘Stros and the Texas Big XII CG. Any ‘Horns fans are welcome to the thread over at www.burntorangenation.com. Let’s go ‘Stros!

Cubs and Pirates

playing AGAIN. in the 5th, Cubs leading 4-3.

Cubs are 9-2 against the Pirates after last night’s game.

Burrell walks

There goes the perfect game. :p

jenkins 2 run HR.....

And Sampson had him 0-2 at one time. Looked like a sinker which didn’t sink enough.

Samspon...

pitching like Sampson. Allows a 2 run homer.

God Sampson is terrible.

I’m sorry. I like the guy, but he’s terrible.

Pence just did exacly the same thing...

... as the K-State CF against Texas on that fly ball. Weird parallel universe.

And then Lee...

almost does it again, pulls it just foul.

DOUBLE STEAL!

Berkman has 10 steals now!

by entropic soul on May 25, 2008 2:14 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Now Sampson

still has a chance to keep his quality start if he can be effective from here on out.

by entropic soul on May 25, 2008 2:18 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Cubs vs. Pirates update.

Bottom of the 6th, Pirates get a double and a single and score 1 run, tying the game.
4-4
Inning is over now, but tied.

We need to get Cooper reading this blog during games....

....now they have 2 ducks on the pond w/ no outs. Bullshit.

by drsarc on May 25, 2008 3:08 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

4th straight hit?

Maybe it is time to pull him now?

by drsarc on May 25, 2008 3:09 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

the trouble is...

we don’t have good options for middle relief at all. Wade is great at collecting crappy middle relievers.

by BTastros on May 25, 2008 3:11 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Byrdak? Wesley Wright?

Anything is better than that P.O.S. I hope he reads what we are saying about him. If he can read.

by drsarc on May 25, 2008 3:12 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Well, I think...

Byrdak went 1.2 last night. I assume Coop wanted Wright for a matchup or the 7th. We’re only in the 6th, after all.

by BTastros on May 25, 2008 3:14 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Right, I mean...

I think Cooper is just hoping to see Nieve do well so he never has to go to Borks, Villareal, or Geary with a lead.

by BTastros on May 25, 2008 3:16 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Also...

I was always fond of Nieve. He had some decent starts a couple of years ago, and threw some decent relief. Injuries have really sidelined him, and he’s clearly in need of work at AAA.

by BTastros on May 25, 2008 3:16 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

AAA?

I think you held your finger on the “a” button for too long? Maybe A-ball.

by drsarc on May 25, 2008 3:17 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

AAA is right

You’re too tough on him.

I don't think we are going to get out of this with a tie

We’ll be lucky if we are only behind by one.
And we’ll have to face one of the best bullpens in the game.
Thanks, Nieve.

Come on, Wright.

Right after I stuck up for you.

This is devastating.

Bourn to Run!

sixersoul

by jsams on May 25, 2008 3:18 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Such bullshit.

After all the work all the other players go through to win this, these two guys blow the game in one inning.

by entropic soul on May 25, 2008 3:20 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Agreed.

Life would be so cool if we could just bat our 3-5 guys in the lineup over and over, clone Bourn to run for them, etc.

by drsarc on May 25, 2008 3:20 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Good News

Soriano makes an error in the bottom of the ninth. Pirates score and tie it up. They will be going into extras again thanks to Alfonso there. :p

5 run Philly inning

That took the fun out of this game.

On the bright side, Astros have four more innings to make up three run deficit.

Bork sucks

Nieve sucks.
Villareal sucks.
Geary on the DL
Wright looked good at the beginning of the year, but now he sucks too.

That leaves us with three reliable relivers: Byrdeck (sp?), Brocail and Valverde.

by entropic soul on May 25, 2008 3:47 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

15-6 ??????????

We didn’t realize how good Chris Sampson was. Phillies still batting. Crowd leaving.

by Joe in Birmingham on May 25, 2008 3:51 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Fuck.

After possibly the two most memorable games of the year, we get blown out because our middle relievers are disgustingly terrible.

by BTastros on May 25, 2008 3:52 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Good news.

Cubs lost in extras again. At least we won’t fall a game back from them. Now let’s see how the Cards do.

by entropic soul on May 25, 2008 3:54 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Hopefully...

that has a deflating effect on the Cubs… losing two extra-inning games in a row to the Pirates?

Piroots were due

Should let Villareal finish the game

Coop thinks Villareal will work stuff out if he can just pitch for an extended period of time. May as well do it now.

by entropic soul on May 25, 2008 4:00 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Villareal

1-2-3 inning for like the first time in forever.

by entropic soul on May 25, 2008 4:05 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

A terrible loss

is still only a loss in the standings. Maybe with two days and a few hours to think about it, the Astros will be fired-up for St Louis Tuesday.

Nieve sent down

Cassel called up, after today’s loss.

by entropic soul on May 25, 2008 6:04 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

UGH!!!!!

I went to bed pretty much conceding this game just by looking at the pitching match-up but low and behold I see we kind of lit up Hamels only to see our middle relief blow the game. Well…that sucks! Nieve sent down, eh?! OK, good…Borkowski should be next. Anyway, a much needed day off, the Cubs and the Cards both lost today and then we go into St. Loius for a 3 game series starting on Tuesday. Hopefully, the real ROY Oswalt will return on the road trip. We need him.
