Roy Oswalt has really turned around his season after losing his first 3 decisions, he has now won his last 4 taking his record to 4-3. Padilla is 3-0 in his last 4 games and has pitched pretty well in all but 1 game this season.
It's payback time!! We have our ace on the hill and it's time to put some hurt on the team that destroyed us 16-8 just last night.

Astros take 1-0 lead
matsui walk and steal, followed by Tejeda RBI single. Berkman walked, Lee flied out, and Erstad was unable to bring runners home from 2d and 3d.
Roy Hobbs gets a blooper to fall in front of Lee
Funny thing, the two outs in the inning were much harder hit. But Hamilton has everything going right for him.
In the article I wrote on Astros' starters...
I pointed out that almost 40% of the singles he allows end up scoring, and I suggested that may indicate that he allows HRs after singles. He allowed two singles and gave up a HR after each one.
Haven't had a chance to check that one out yet.
House cleaning all day.
Will be sure to read it soon.

Yeah, don't take that the wrong way...
it’s such a close race in the division, and it’s crazy that the worst team in the supposed weakest division in baseball is 20-23.
the peter principle is...
that in every organization employees rise to the level of their incompetence and stay there.
The problem with suggesting that the principle applies here is that I’m sure Angel would suck as a Rookie-ball umpire too.
BT defined it well, entropic...
I think the last time I used the term on this board was in reference to Pupura.
And in that case...
the principle applies well.
Purpura was good enough at all the jobs he had in baseball to get promoted to GM. Unfortunately those other jobs didn’t involve a lot of the skills necessary to be a good GM.
The only difference...
from the typical case the Peter Principle describes is that GM is a really high profile job, and you can get canned pretty quickly. The Principle is usually used to describe people who are bad at their jobs but manage to stay where they are.
If you’ve seen The Office, Michael is the perfect example. He was a terrific salesman and eventually got promoted to manager; the company doesn’t ever choose to make him an executive, but they never fire him either.
one corrollary of the Peter Principle...
if I recall correctly, is that organizations which can’t function with the incompetent executive will create useless job titles and push the executive sideways. Maybe the director of minor league baseball, the position which Pupura now fills, is that kind of position.
God DAMMIT!
IF HE CAN’T STEAL BASES THEN WHY IS HE STARTING!? :p

Trainer leaves with Oswalt....
what is the injury? Now I see someone else said the same thing.
Byrdak coming into game. Oswalt has seemed pretty hittable in this game. He has gritted it out to try to keep a lid on things. But I wonder if the injury affected his performance.
JD says probably groin
which is probably the case… you couldn’t tell from looking at Roy that he was hurt.
Go 'Stros!
Byrdak goes full on the count...never good...and leads to a RBI hit.
Nieve may come in? We didn’t mention it on this board…Fernando Nieve was called up yesterday.
I’m not sure bases loaded is the best situation to start him with….
Byrdak got a raw deal
Came in and finished up a strike out, and then had to give an IBB and then gave up 1 hit and was pulled.
Go 'Stros!
I hate Angel Hernandez
And his strike call is sucking big time.. outside and high on Lance for strike 1…
Go 'Stros!
Then they come back
same pitch but a little lower and it’s a ball.. at least be consistent!
Go 'Stros!
The Berkman Shift worked that time.
I thought that little liner would drop in, but the 2d baseman was playing short RF.
