BATTLE FOR THE BOOT!!!!

Erstad looks like he's going to get some starts in this series at 1st base and in left field while Carlos Lee and Lance Berkman DH.  If Erstad does well in this series and Bourn continues to be a terrible hitter... Then it might be time to start giving Erstad some more playing time and cut down on Bourn's.

Bourn batting 8th

Just before Towles. Interesting.

I would have switched the 2

but I don’t get paid to make those decisions unfortunately

Go 'Stros!

Ponsoon

Dude…...Hes huge…..

by laxtonto on May 16, 2008 7:08 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Matsui doubles...

Hamilton makes a running catch in deep centerfield, but can’t hold on to the ball when he hits the ground.

by entropic soul on May 16, 2008 7:10 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Hamilton has wheels....

espically for a bug dude,,,

by laxtonto on May 16, 2008 7:11 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I watch him

almost every game, and yes he is fast.

by Triple347 on May 16, 2008 7:18 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Berkman flies out at the left field wall

and Kinsler pretty much repeats that performance when the Rangers come up to bat.

by entropic soul on May 16, 2008 7:18 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

I have Milton Bradley on my fantasy team....

creates conflicting feelings when he flies out.

by clack on May 16, 2008 7:23 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Pence tosses a foul pall up to an Astros fan ...

he can’t make the catch and a Rangers fan snags the ball.

Plus. Chacon is sucking today.

by entropic soul on May 16, 2008 7:27 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Astros get on the board

Back to back doubles from Lee and Erstad.

by entropic soul on May 16, 2008 7:34 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

The Abyss of the order to bat now.

out 1, 2 and 3 coming in order. Hopefully they can get Erstad home before that though. :p

by entropic soul on May 16, 2008 7:35 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Bourn grounds out

but at least he has an RBI to show for it.

by entropic soul on May 16, 2008 7:36 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Chacon is weak.

WTF?

Determined not to make it 9 consecutive no decision by blowing this game.

by entropic soul on May 16, 2008 7:54 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Having a good season

already 45 RBI’s this season… but he don’t hit like Lance

Go 'Stros!

by Stros Bro on May 16, 2008 7:55 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

and yes...

I do know that was bad grammar :)

Go 'Stros!

by Stros Bro on May 16, 2008 7:56 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I wish he would...

cause all Lance his done is fly out to left field all day.
:p

by entropic soul on May 16, 2008 8:04 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah.

The Rangers are golden if they don’t score again.

by entropic soul on May 16, 2008 8:04 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Hamilton

makes another running catch but doesn’t fall down and drop the ball this time.

by entropic soul on May 16, 2008 8:06 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Dear Chacon,

You blow.

Yours truly,

who’s the beach ball babe?

by entropic soul on May 16, 2008 8:13 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Chacon,,,,,

Um,,,,throw strikes,,,,,except to Hamilton

by laxtonto on May 16, 2008 8:15 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Wiggles gets himself a hit

10 more of those in a row and we could tie this game!

by entropic soul on May 16, 2008 8:26 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Darnit

They broke the no outs streak. :(

by entropic soul on May 16, 2008 8:29 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Looks like

Chacon’s giving the Stros a challenge to try and preserve his no-decision.

Ten bucks we tie it and Hamilton hits a massive walk-off shot off, let’s say, Villareal.

by jonthefon on May 16, 2008 8:29 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Argh

Arlington Ballpark is a circus like MMP.

(Mumbles something about the good old days in the Astrodome.)

by jonthefon on May 16, 2008 8:36 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Astros

up to the challenge, apparently. :p

by entropic soul on May 16, 2008 8:40 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

8-5 now. This could be a high scoring game.

Nice swing of the bat by Tejada. I’m glad he survived the take out slide by Carlos Lee on that foul pop up.

by clack on May 16, 2008 8:35 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Berkman

knocks on off of Ponson’s foot that probably would have gone up the middle anyway.

by entropic soul on May 16, 2008 8:36 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

8-6 on a Lee single.

Other than Tejeda’s hit, the Astros have been dinkin’ and dunkin’ this inning. Hit em where they aint.

by clack on May 16, 2008 8:39 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Caballo

sends a single that scores Miggy. 8-6 Dallas-er, Rangers.

by jonthefon on May 16, 2008 8:39 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Damn

laggy Internet.

by jonthefon on May 16, 2008 8:41 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Erstad rips one into left field.

Scores Berkman, slow ass Lee out at the plate.
8-7 Rangers.

by entropic soul on May 16, 2008 8:40 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Ponson done after 5

and giving up 7 runs.
See? told you he was no good. :p

He is only charged with 3 earned runs, which is pretty much a joke since it’s HIS error that did and we pretty much had to give him the last out. :p

BOURN GETS A HIT!

Wah wah waaaaaaaaaaaaaah?

by entropic soul on May 16, 2008 8:52 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

To bad Laird aint back there…Would be good to se that race

by laxtonto on May 16, 2008 8:54 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Bourn steals...he needs to steal every chance against Salty...

Anyone recall that Saltamacchia allowed something like 6 steals in a game last year?

by clack on May 16, 2008 8:56 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Miggy down

swinging.

Game tied, no decision for Chacon, got banned from LSB for posting an introductory comment.

by jonthefon on May 16, 2008 9:05 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

what did you say?

they have neve banned me

by Triple347 on May 16, 2008 9:06 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

It was remotely my fault

I think they took it the wrong way.

I basically introduced myself as a Stros fan who gave up on the Rangers after they signed A-Rod.

Oh wait, I think they rectified it. Or it was some SBNation bug.

by jonthefon on May 16, 2008 9:12 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

No biggie....

LSB is pretty mello…..unless your from the AL WEst, then its kinda edgey

by laxtonto on May 16, 2008 9:14 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Adam Morris

The main writer of the site lives in Houston, by the way. They usually don’t mind fans of other teams as linga s you don’t talk noise.

by Triple347 on May 16, 2008 9:15 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

No

As it turns out, it’s a weird bug that keeps logging me out and back in.

by jonthefon on May 16, 2008 9:16 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Ouch

Costly errors killing the Astros…

Go 'Stros!

by Stros Bro on May 16, 2008 9:15 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Young Brandon Boggs steps to the plate

Ohh no…..

This is kinda strange…

Wesley Wright

OI have really liked him since seeing him in spring training

by Triple347 on May 16, 2008 9:20 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

I'll like him more...

if he gets out of this.

Go 'Stros!

by Stros Bro on May 16, 2008 9:21 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Surprisingly

I’m not as nervous as in games against other teams.

Must be because I’m fine with the Rangers.

by jonthefon on May 16, 2008 9:23 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

you mean

after he picked himself up off the ground? :)

You have to love the way he plays the game… even when he’s not doing well, he at least seems to play the game the right way.

Go 'Stros!

by Stros Bro on May 16, 2008 9:27 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

And that other Angel guy

There’s two of them out there tonight.

Why, though, they left Wright in for two hitters too many. He should have been pulled right after the 9th run was scored.

Dear Josh Hamilton

Pence tried to throw out Kinsler

at the plate and to the Astros dugout, it looked like Towles got him since the arm kind of went between the legs, but the feet got there first. Cooper jumped around yelling about it, but didn’t appear to be rude about it in any way, but Angel Hernandez tossed him anyways because he’s a dick and that’s what he does best.

by saylinara on May 16, 2008 9:57 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Close call at home

Rangers scored. Coop was pissed. Argued about it till he got tossed.

by entropic soul on May 16, 2008 9:57 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

If our infield defense had not taken the day off

we’d be winning this game. I guess they can’t play without Lance.

by entropic soul on May 16, 2008 9:58 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Rangers announcers:

“Something about the Rangers and Astros playing each other seems to produce a large amount of Ranger home runs.”

No shit. We both play in band boxes.

by entropic soul on May 16, 2008 10:02 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

looking at gameday

it must be close to a record for a number of highlight videos. They’ve got the Pence catch. Guy is a hoot.

by ol Pete on May 16, 2008 10:05 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Thought it was Brocail giving up

the bombs? Maybe I missed a pitching change somewhere…

by saylinara on May 16, 2008 10:08 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

No..

he struck out the only guy he faced and they put Villareal in….

Go 'Stros!

by Stros Bro on May 16, 2008 10:10 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yep

Astros trying to give this game away… doing a good job of it to.

Go 'Stros!

by Stros Bro on May 16, 2008 10:08 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

WOW

Villareal is not on this team anymore by tomorrow.
Well, if management were sane, that is what i’d expect.

by entropic soul on May 16, 2008 10:10 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

agreed

He’s been terrible pretty much all season..

Go 'Stros!

by Stros Bro on May 16, 2008 10:11 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Wade

“locked” Villarreal up through ‘09, FYI

by Triple347 on May 16, 2008 10:12 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Even with all the homers...

we’d be winning without the unearned runs.

by BTastros on May 16, 2008 10:11 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Lets see if Hamilton can go

6 for 6 with 3 home runs now..

Go 'Stros!

by Stros Bro on May 16, 2008 10:12 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Nope

A walk to him seems like a win for the ‘Stros

Go 'Stros!

by Stros Bro on May 16, 2008 10:13 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I thought

Batting practice was supposed to be before the game..

Go 'Stros!

by Stros Bro on May 16, 2008 10:15 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Maybe if

Villareal keeps pitching, he’ll actually throw his arm off

Go 'Stros!

by Stros Bro on May 16, 2008 10:16 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

IF BOURN CAN'T GOD DAMN PLAY CENTER FIELD

THEN HE DOESN’T NEED TO BE ON THIS TEAM!

by entropic soul on May 16, 2008 10:16 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Especially with

Erstad going 2 for 4 with 2 RBI’s

Go 'Stros!

by Stros Bro on May 16, 2008 10:17 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

wow...

This is beyond painful.

by BTastros on May 16, 2008 10:18 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

It pisses me off how shitty some of our players are

when we have some really awesome players on the team too. People like Bourn, Wigginton, Towles, Villareal are dragging us down.

by entropic soul on May 16, 2008 10:19 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

See I don't particularly see Bourn and Towles

as shitty players. Maybe they didn’t sparkle the minute their rookie selves put on the uniform like Pence, but both warrant sticking around and might become decent one of these days. Wiggy and Villareal… Wade’s good getting relief guys and there’s gotta be a third baseman looking for work, right?

by saylinara on May 16, 2008 10:22 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

and now...

to top things off, the mlb.tv feed for the game is showing the White Sox / Giants.

by BTastros on May 16, 2008 10:21 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Well, err....

You win some, you lose some?

Hopefully tomorrow we can pretend this just didn’t happen.

by BTastros on May 16, 2008 10:26 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Well.

We still have a better record than the Rangers. Neener neener :p

by entropic soul on May 16, 2008 10:26 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

5 errors today.

Serious.
Amazing.
I hope the defense show up tomorrow.

by entropic soul on May 16, 2008 10:37 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Remember when the Astros were No. 1 in least errors and best fielding percent?

Well, now the Astros are 7th lowest in errors and 9th in fielding percent (NL).
