On Monday, Berkman was named the National League Player of the Week for the period ending May 11. The 32-year-old led the Majors with a gaudy .682 (15-for-22) batting average and a 1.136 slugging percentage on his way to winning the weekly honors for the second time this season and fourth in his career. Berkman is the only player so far in 2008 to win the award twice.
What a surprise... The way he's playing right now, I wouldn't be surprised if they just named the award after him.

Chipper Jones
Had a decent enough day today, boosting his batting average from .400 to .406. Doesn’t look like Lance will be taking the lead there tonight.

At some point
They’re gonna ask Roy what he would have done if he wasn’t a baseball player. I’ll keep you updated. :P

Alright, I suppose
He doesn’t “feel” like Roy when you watch him, but that still makes him 90% better then all the other pitchers still.

Interesting
I wonder if he’ll return to his old ways. I might have to buy a Shawn Chacon jersey.

I think Roy got so frustrated
last year trying to carry the weight of the entire starting pitching staff that he hasn’t come back mentally yet. But luckily we don’t have a shitty starting rotation this year so it hasn’t hurt us too bad.

I'm still not as comfortable with this team as a whole.
I’m enjoying the season so far, but there’s so many new faces it’s just a whole lot different than previous years. I’m trying to make sure I watch every game possible to get accustom to the new players. The bullpen’s the biggest question mark for me. I barely feel like I know any of ‘em haha. Too bad Extra Innings likes to black out every game of every team from Arizona over.

Lucky
I’ve been too busy doing the college thing to catch too many of the Spring games, but I try to read the synopsis’ every week or so. My favorite’s have always been Lance (named my cat after him, lol), Wandy, and Backe, so as long as they’re there, I’m happy with the team. I don’t know what I’d do if I lost any of those three though…

Exactly
I was a huge Bagwell and Biggio fan. Same thing with Wagner, Dotel and Lidge. You just move on. As for the whole college thing. I’m in the same spot haha and between the Sixers playoff run and the beginning of the Astros season my schoolwork has been put on the back-burner. What college you go to man?

Well, yeah, I’d find new favorites, I always have and always will as long as they wear the Astros uniform, but I don’t wanna hafta, lol.

And it was like that during the '05 WS run
Very nearly failed out that semester because I spent all of fall back in Houston watching the playoff run since my dad is obsessed as I am and would always get tickets to the games.

I was expecting to see a 5-0 or 6-0 score now in favor of us with all the pundits lapping at the Roy-Zito matchup, but as long as Berkman’s hitting I’m happy.

Wasn't exactly helped by the defense
Wigginton should have gloved that ball and possibly could have gotten the out at 1st…
Cruz Jr just looked terrible on that dive as well…. With Wiggy gloving that and Bourn in CF, this is probably still a tied game.

Jose Cruz Jr
look slow, awkward and out of his element on that terrible attempt in center. Bourn would have had that standing.

If Cruz wasn't a left-handed bat off the bench
....he would have been put out to pasture by now. Wouldn’t surprise if it happened soon since Erstad is playing so well. I wonder how the front-office deals with that dilemma with Jose Sr. being such an institution in Houston.

There might be a desperate enough team
out there for the final month push, especially if the wildcard gets as crazy as last year.

It would take a lot...
and it’d have to be a veteran team. You can’t have Bonds on a team of young players. The media circus would be a lot for them.
Plus, he’d have to DH. His knees can’t handle the field anymore.

Yanks or Bo-Sox, maybe
They can handle the media storm and they’re known to play kind of dirty, especially if it’s a war between the two.

Wasn't thinking in terms of players
Just big media circus, kind of veteran teams that would take a chance. That would have a DH.

if they had a chance at winning the East. But other then that, I can’t think of any would might be able to survive that storm.

Baltimore might be too young...
other than the ex-Astros (Scott, Huff) there aren’t too many vets.
Millar and Roberts don’t seem to me to be enough to offset the Bonds factor.

But they play in a fairly media magnet anyways
Especially if they were doing well. Bonds might not be as big as a deal as possibly beating BoSox/Yanks, at least on a local level.

Agreed – If you would have told me we would get the best pitching production from our 3rd through 5th pitchers 40 games in, I would have thought we had collectively gone crazy.

Astros hitters are wasting at bats
Zito’s control is lacking somewhat. They could be drawing a lot more walks, imo.
